I need to upgrade my router due to speed bottlenecks between my switch and modem.

Looking for something that is DD-WRT compatible, fully supports 2.5GBE speeds on all ports and needs to have dual WAN ports with support for link aggregation. I Prefer a smaller form factor device do not have room for any large rack mount units and dont need a lot of LAN ports because of the switch but I do need some basic WIFI capability.

And have a fire brigade on call. Or crack open the router and improve the thermal solutions which, from what I can see has no decent thermal solution around the SFP port only shielding and thus will get extremely hot with normal operation which is a common complaint from users who have the SFP port operational.

Quite awful engineering in general, and really needs upgrading the thermal solutions. No surprise there, its Netgear cheap and cheerful engineering at its best.

But there you have it. Its a beast may bite you. Wink

Regarding the Q750G5 J4125

This looks pretty close to what I am looking for could probably save some money get the no wifi version and use the old router as an access point only. Just to confirm are all the ports 2.5G or just some of them?

Depends on which listing and configuration but yes you should see 5 x Intel I225-V 2.5G LAN in description.
Intel I225 driver support is kernel 5 and up only so unless some backporting done, borrowed, see other OS.

Older hardware with gigabit ports are likely intel i211 which is now discontinued, so we are at a crossroads.
Have no idea which wireless card is included if you choose this option, but maybe better to install your own.

I have a Netgear R9000 available for sale. Like new, works great. Just tested it with Stock, DD-WRT, and OpenWrt. Send me an offer.
