I know I need to update my DD-WRT, but let's lay it out.

My wired network has been through some changes lately. I know my performance with the old Xfinity cable wasn't great even going from laptop cat-6 to modem so I thought going to Fiber would fix that.

My setup is this...

ALL cabing is either Fiber or cat-6.

#1. Frontier ONT gig fiber service.
#2. Eero Pro6 (x2) running OEM firmware. Speed tests there are 959mbps.
#3. The first Eero is connected to a TrendNet TEG-S50G 5 port gig switch. This branches to work laptops and then to the home network

Home network is...
#1. DD-WRT routers, TrendNet TEW-824DRU, and TrendNet TEW-812DRU. THe secondary / bridged router is offline presently. Both flashed with the hardware specific version of Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r46733 std (05/21/21)
#2. All of my wired connections are through a TrendNet TEG-S24DG

Cabled gig connections talke to each other at roughly 1 gps, wifi on the Eero is pulling 500 some odd up and down. Pretty cool for a smart p0hone for sure...

Speed test on the wired gigabit connections on the TrendNet are. 127 mbps down, 500 mbps up.

On WIFi, it is WAY worse. 13.0 down, 42 up.

Why the massive slowdown, and why is it way worse on download?

I do have local DNS running on the 824, but I wouldn't think that should clobber it like this...

Fair warning. You'll be told to upgrade to the current release. Now, on to the rest...

TEW-824DRU is a single-core MIPS @ 720MHz with 256MB of RAM.
TEW-812DRU is a dual-core Broadcom ARM @ 800MHz* with 64MB of RAM.

* - conflicting information on the internet. Some resources say single-core, some say dual-core.

Needless to say, on gigabit fiber, you need something with a little more power than either of those have. Just my humble ol' $0.02.

Wireless throughput is depending on a lot of factors like settings and spectrum

With the right settings close to the router on 5 GHz with 80 MHz 2 stream and a clean spectrum 300 Mb/s is certainly possible.
On 2.4 GHz 20 Mhz channel width, crowded spectrum, far from the router and non optimal settings than it is possible you do not even get 10 Mb/s

LAN download speed seems bad to me, even for a single core 750Mhz CPU router.
Correction:
The TEW-812DRU v2.x has dual core, the v1.x has single core broadcom cpu to internet research, both gigabit LAN and faster wlan (ac,n)
For gig fiber you need dual core 1Ghz+, on single core the 500 mbs is nearly max you get out of the box.

You should post your 2.4G and 5G wifi settings

Best wifi settings for QCA https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=324014

However you cannot expect Ferrari performance from what is essentially a Donkey chasing after a carrot.
