I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and Comcast is my ISP. I used to be able run an OpenVPN server on my home R7000 router but in the last few months it just stopped working and I cannot get into the OpenVPN server from the Internet. I had been running DD-WRT v3.0-r41811 std (12/28/19) but upgraded to DD-WRT v3.0-r46885 std (06/05/21) and still no luck. I have the same results with both my MacBook Pro and my Android phone. The local recreation district that I volunteer at shows this type of OpenVPN server blocking on the R7000 router that I installed there as well. Things work just fine for r7000 routers I have configured exactly the same way that are installed in New Jersey, Baltimore, Seattle, and Washington DC.
I use my home OpenVPN server for troubleshooting for family and friends and have tried a range of udp and tcp ports with no luck. Anyone else having this problem with Comcast? If so, any ideas how to fix it?

There are also commercial VPN providers which let you port forward via the VPN.
But in essence it is the same, you let a VPN *client* (WireGuard or OpenVPN) make contact to an outside server
I am running a VPS in the cloud (Oracle Cloud) which is essentially free and can actually do such a thing, the DDWRT client and the VPS server are setup for a site-to-site connection, instructions are in the guides how to do that (also links to setup a VPS in the Cloud)
