Here's a hacked version of the yamon 3.4.x install script. It uses https instead of http and then automatically edits the newly downloaded getlatest.sh to also use https instead of http (an automated version of what was described in the previous post).
Lately YAMon 3.4.6 would not load and the web page showing "connecting to www.gstatic.com" and never connecting and the YAMon not loading.
I installed the "hacked" install of YAMon 3.4.7 and has the same issue. Any body else having the same problem?
TIA!
Why does yamon need anything from the internet to run?
I get an error message installing yamon 4. I changed the install script from http to https, because it's getting 302 error code (http to https redirect). but after, I get the second error message:
Downloading the latest version of:
* /opt/YAMon4/includes/version.sh
> Loading source for /opt/YAMon4/includes/version.sh
./install.sh: /opt/YAMon4/includes/version.sh: line 2: syntax error: unexpected newline
root@dd-wrt-monitor:/opt# cat /opt/YAMon4/includes/version.sh
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<html><head>
<title>302 Found</title>
</head><body>
<h1>Found</h1>
<p>The document has moved <a href="https://www.usage-monitoring.com/current/YAMon4/Setup/includes/version.sh?1640891585">here</a>.</p>
</body></html>
root@dd-wrt-monitor:/opt# vi install.sh
root@dd-wrt-monitor:/opt#
So the problem is that also the new downloaded files includes the "http" instead of "https" link
Ya, I gave up with Yamon4. Installed the hacked Yamon3 version from ddaniel51
It's running well now. Thx ddaniel51

This thread is for 3.4.x, not 4.x.... and YaMon is not under active development AFAIK...
Just for grins I sent Al a PayPal a couple of days ago to see if he is awake.
As of 4/30/2022 there has been no response. _________________ Segment 1 XR700 10Gb LAN, 1Gb WAN ISP BS

Greetings,
I was a YaMon user since 2018. Sometime last year it stopped working and I just assumed since it was abandoned that it wouldn't work anymore. But now I see it's still useful to a certain extent. Looking at the summary page I can see rollup data since 2018. Where is that coming from? Any idea? It's the same router so I haven't changed anything.
My USB drive went bad so I couldn't get to my install dir and had to set up a new install on a new USB device. I used the install.sh that was posted here and now it seems I have it up and running again.
I did have a key for the database functionality, but I suspect it's trashed along with the USB drive. Anyone know how to get around that? Or have a key? I'll keep looking in my email archive but I doubt I'll find it.
I currently have all my data going in and out of a single port on a Cisco switch. That port data is mirrored to another port that has a Windows server hooked up to it. Does anyone know if there's an equivalent app that might work like YaMon but with the port set up I described?
Also, is there anything that needs to be done to ensure this app keeps working? Is there anything we can do as end users to keep it going? After all it is a good app.

Does the "Get Key" button on the yamon settings tab no longer work? I never used this feature and don't want to try it myself.
From yamon's readme.txt: "With this feature enabled, when you change your settings, a copy of the the localStorage values on that machine are written to your (private) database at my usage-monitoring.com domain." This suggests you can't share a database key with someone else or you'll mess up each other's yamon settings.
When you made a donation he gave you a key to silence the nag messages but that's a different key.

Yes it's a great app but all the dependencies on Al's server make it hard for a community supported version.

I haven't looked at it in so long, I forget specifics. If the dependencies are only hosted and do not change, it probably wouldn't take much to migrate the files (if memory serves) to the local install and get past this. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but over a couple months this summer I will be sharing a neighbours internet connection in a rural location (via a DD-WRT install in repeater mode). I just want to keep an eye on the bandwidth usage every couple days and installed YAMon to do this (if there's a better solution than YAmon, I'm all ears). It's up and running and just have a couple questions I'm hoping someone might be able to answer:
1. On the daily usage report, what's the difference between the "total" value and the "measured @ router" total?
2. Is there a way to "reset" the data to start fresh?

As a dumb user my understanding is that yamon counts the uploads and downloads for each detected device. The router (dd-wrt here, but yamon runs on others) keeps a global tally of uploads and downloads. Unfortunately yamon's added up individual device totals don't exactly match dd-wrt's overall traffic accounting. Some reading material.

You could try deleting stuff in /opt/YAMon3/data/2022/[month number] but I've had annoying warnings from Yamon about holes in the data when yamon didn't run for a while due to a dead USB stick. Note the April data still goes into the March folder until you cross the billing date so don't just delete /opt/YAMon3/data/2022/03 thinking April is unaffected (unless billing date is the 1st). Oh and stop yamon before deleting yamon data.

I've been very lucky to be using Yamon3...since 2018 with very little in the way of issues...it really does do all that I need but it's fair to say I rely on it heavily and would be gutted if it ever totally died.
I did try to upgrade to 4.0 but had nothing but issues, so slipped back to the OG which for me really does do all I want, apart from maybe a dark mode...but Im far from unhappy...
So wondering if anyone is aware of anything remotely similar that can do what so many of us are used to having access to via YAMON.....I'm far from a coder so would have absolutely no idea of how to go about setting something up myself...and I am therefore heavily reliant on people such as AlC to create such incredible tools for us as a community to us.
This post is probably a non-starter but thought I would ask away anyway
And yes this appears to be something I post on a yearly basis

dark/light mode is simple, within the CSS stylesheet you separate the relevant background/text/border colors into @media (prefers-color-scheme: dark) { } and @media (prefers-color-scheme: light) { } and choose different colors and it will be dark or light depending on what your browser is set to.

I have set _doLocalFiles=1 in config.file as explained here. If al_c completely shut down usage-monitoring.com and problems came up, someone here would probably hack a version that mostly works without usage-monitoring.com.

I run Yamon on my router since 3 years without any problem
- Yamon HTML: 3.4.5 / Script: 3.4.7
- Router (Dlink-DIR880L) Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r37305 std (10/10/1
After a power outage I had to reset my router, but since that time Yamon calculates that 10% of traffic...
What should I modify in DD-WRT so that the data corresponds to reality?
