Welcome to Broadcom r48432 beta release thread for reporting, feedback to developers & community benefit.
Please do not flash builds until installation is understood, risks involved and device specificrecovery methods.
Avoid discussions, create threads for questions, general problems or use search; this thread is not for support.
Please list router model & revision, operating & wireless mode(s) and exact filename/firmware image flashed.
Issues, observations, and/or workarounds reported:
• WebUI: Clear history or use a portable. Temporary cache bypass: Ctrl+F5, Cmd+Shift+R or new private window/incognito.
• DNScrypt 1.95 can still be used in WebUIbut v2 (not compatible) requires Golang and thus Entware. See Trac ticket #6246.
• WDS does not work on Broadcom ARM devices (only MIPS<->MIPS) & bridge modes on k4.4 devices may sometimes work
in some configurations for certain builds but are not supported by the bcmdhd driver. Try client or repeater modes, but YMMV.
• VAPs not working at bootare fixed, both unbridged (r40634) and bridged (r47822). Please test, removestartup commands.
• If startup scripts do not work from USB add delay (wait script), sleep 25 or try Administration -> Commands -> Save USB.
• Broadcom ARM devices if 5 GHz channels are missingvia Telnet/SSH: 'nvram set brcm_unlock=1' 'nvram commit' 'reboot'.
• Please report findings with steps needed to reproduce, configuration, clients, output, logs and important information below!
Important:
• Detail issues & relevant configs, logs: syslog klog 'dmesg' 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages' nvram set console_debug=1, serial.
• Firewall NAT WAN: 'iptables -vnL' 'iptables -t nat -vnL' 'iptables -t mangle -vnL' & /tmp/.ipt. Misc: stracetcpdumpwireshark.
• Gremlins: reset & configure manually, not restore a backup. Reboot. Search Trac & discuss in forum before opening tickets.
• Include operating & wireless modes (e.g. Gateway, Router, AP, CB, WDS, Mesh) and applicable configurations to reproduce.

@cdoublejj: do you mean you have a WNDR4000 but the firmware identifies it at a WNDR4500v2? Please clarify or show a screenshot of what you are referring to. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

oh i see! the DL link at the top of the thread is one of the more top level directories, it encompasses the dd-wrt build from 2 days ago. jot just a subsection. so yes if i own the wdnr4000 and and want update the firmware THIS would be the thread to post in!

Yes, this thread is for reporting after flashing your WNDR400. I presume you are aware that firmware for this device is either in broadkom_K26 or broadcom_K3X folders. If you are already on K3X, then you should use the trailed or nv64k firmware image.
i think i've switched between the two without knowing any better, i don't know the difference between the two.
i'm on Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r44251 mega (08/28/20)
i assume that means k3? it was v24 or something before this last upgrade.
so i assume this thread for this build with the k3 mega nv64 would be my next upgrade and i intend to upgrade and report if unless you say that's suicide
this would take me from r44 to r48
EDIT i thin v26 and k3 denote kernel versions. about to commit harry karry reporting back soonish i hope
EDIT: i may not understanding your fancy learned versioning but, upgrading from Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r44251 mega (08/28/20) to Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r48432 mega (03/01/22) did not brick the WNDR4000 device or kill me.
EDIT: i disable wifi, so no radio testing from me

Summary
Right after firmware upgrade and reboot, nothing abnormal seen. Nothing abnormal after cold boot either.
I think the firmware upgrade reboot was faster than previous releases. Not so sure if it had something to do with init.
In-kernel Samba Problems(Update@09-Mar-2022)
BTW, if you had problems accessing Samba shares in DD-WRT using Access Level="Restricted", try modifying the following registry:
Code:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
Double click LmCompatibiltyLevel to edit
Change the value to 5
in Group Policy Editor. Note that Windows Home doesn't have Group Policy Editor.
Also, something I wasn't sure: it seemed that SMB3 protocols could NOT support Access Level = Everyone, unless you set "Encryption" to "Off"!! Using a Max Protocol of SMB2.10 could work as well.
SMB 3.0 and 3.02 use a more recent encryption algorithm for signing: Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)-cipher-based message authentication code (CMAC). SMB 2.0 used the older HMAC-SHA256 encryption algorithm. AES-CMAC and AES-CCM can significantly accelerate data encryption on most modern CPUs that have AES instruction support.
Windows Server 2022 and Windows 11 introduce AES-128-GMAC for SMB 3.1.1 signing. Windows will automatically negotiate this better-performing cipher method when connecting to another computer that supports it. Windows still supports AES-128-CMAC. For more information, see Configure SMB Signing with Confidence.
Does the in-kernel Samba support "older HMAC-SHA256 encryption algorithm"?? Possibly not, not the current version. So just turn it off when using Access Level = "Everyone". I also suspected that SMB 3.11 enforce encryption.
Should the WEBUI turn off Encryption whenever Access Level is set to "Everyone"? Not a bad idea. And how about the default? I would leave these to the managers of DD-WRT!
In addition, you possibly needed to run the following Admin Powershell command as well:
I believe all those performance and memory parameters generated by WEBUI's Samba service were also useless. Those lines came from the time when DD-WRT was not using in-kernel Samba.
