Hello,
I'm new to this forum, but not new to DD-WRT. I found the DD-WRT Wiki for Netgear R7800, and all it contained is a link to a forum post with title: "Netgear R7800 and XR500 Install Guide". The "Guide" in that post can only be seen if you are logged in to the forum and have posted once already. So here is my post, I hope I get to see the guide after this.
Most importantly though, thank you so much to egc for writing the guide and all the work that went with it!

The XR500 is the same hardware as the R7800, you simply need to download the appropriately named firmware for the XR500 in the build folders. Everything else will be the same, otherwise. _________________ FORUM RULES

The other option may be to clear your cache, log out of the forum after registering, log back in or wait 24 hours. It's probably a bug in the antique forum software that requires a post. I haven't taken another look at this yet. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

Hi,
I'm new to this website. Just logged in would very much like to get DD-WRT firmware for my Netgear R7800 router. This would enable me to install NordVPN.
I just successfully flashed a used XR500 I picked up online to pair w/ a R7800 I have had for a few years. Hoping to use for wireless VLANs for IOT's and a guest network. Until I read egc's guide never knew the XR500 and R7800 were basically the same router. Thanx for the guide egc, took longer to go thru Netgear's ridiculous menu than to actually flash w/ ddwrt. Used the recommended r47618, worked like a charm. Thanx again!
ps: fyi, there are many used R7800's and XR500's selling for a little over $100 online.
