Hi all,

I have an FTTH connection and the Router is connect to the ONT with an ethernet cable on the WAN port. I'm using an Asus RT-AC68U with Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r44715 (11/03/20).
My Italian ISP (Tiscali) gave me the following settings in order to connect the router to internet (see isp_settings.png attachment).

I tried to apply the given settings using the WEB GUI, but the WAN IP is 0.0.0.0. These are the settings I've applyed:
- On Setup / Switch Config I checked the Vlan 8 in the relative column of WAN Port (currently is not assigned to any bridge)
- On Setup / Networking I've created a tag for vlan8 with tag number 35 (I also tried 835 but nothing changed). In the same section I've assigned the WAN Port to vlan8
- In the Basic Setup I've choosen PPPoE entering the username and password the ISP gave me

Am I missing something else?
Many thanks to everyone will answer to this post, I really appreciate.

First of all you are running an old and unsupported build.

See the forum guidelines with helpful pointers about how to research your router, where and what firmware to download, where and how to post and many other helpful tips:
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=324087

For Tiscali FFTH it seems you have to use vlan 835, the firs thing I googled was: https://assistenza.tiscali.it/internet-telefono/modem/guida/parametri-connessione/

My advice:
Upgrade to the latest build 47900
Reset to defaults after upgrading and put settings in manually
On the switch tab just replace the 2 from VLAN 2 with 835

Not sure if that works as VLANS have changed a lot

Thanks egc,
I'll try to update to the last available version and configure all the stuff from scratch. If I've got well you suggested to apply the tag 835 to vlan2 without associating the WAN port to vlan8 as I've done before, is it right?

I'll keep you update, thanks

Correct that is what I would try, as said VLAN's have changed a lot (and I am no VLAN expert) so not sure but this is the simplest to try Smile

I've installed the build 47900 as you suggested and, after flashing the new firmware, I've performed a factory reset.

Now the WLAN in assigned to vlan2 and the associated tag is 835 but I still can't get a valid IP.
I also tried to flag "tagged" in the Switch page, after that I was able to reach the ONT webpage with same IP of the router (192.168.1.1).

Do you have any other suggestion?
Thanks for you support

You have to change the LAN IP of your router to something like 192.168.2.1; if it and the ONT are both 192.168.1.1, you will never get internet.

I changed the LAN IP but I can't still establish internet connection. Is there a way to see some logs? I would understand why the router can't get internet access

This may have been fixed in the webUI since 47900.

https://ftp.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2022/01-21-2022-r48141/asus-rt-ac68u/

If not, then you have to use swconfig, etc. IF that is the case, what is the output of:
Code:
swconfig list (if it shows switch0, then)
swconfig dev switch0 show

Sorry for the late answer. I've updated to firmware version: DD-WRT v3.0-r48141 (01/21/22) as you suggested.

This this the output of the command swconfig dev switch0 show:

Add these to startup under Administration -> Commands:
Code:
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 2 set vid 835
swconfig dev switch0 set apply

After testing them via SSH to see if that works.
I am sure Per Yngve Berg will chime in if I am wrong Cool

The WAN interface is hard code to VLAN 2 and all the config is perfect as is. So in my opinion, the simplest thing is to do to make the WAN tagged to VLAN of ISP choice is to do the following things:

1) Set WAN port to tagged 835
- Setup > Switch Config
- Set Wan port to Tagged
- VLAN Add, 835
- Set WAN port to VLAN 835 (you can un-tick VLAN2)
Then Either
2) Build bridge between VLAN 2 and VLAN 835.
- Setup > Networking >
- Create Bridge, Add bridge, e.g. br2
- Create Bridge, Assign to bridge, Add VLAN2 to br2
- Create Bridge, Assign to bridge, Add VLAN835 to br2
OR
2) Change VID for interface VLAN 2 to 835
- Setup > Networking > VLAN Tagging, VLAN2, Tag Number = 835

For step 2 'bridge', you may need to do a Save and Apply after every step as you may not see the option of br8 until it is in NVRAM.
This is then all in NVRAM and no startup commands needed.

For step 2 'Change VID' method, I have not used this particular feature before, but it appears that you can manipulate the VID of a VLAN interface. So if that works it is the cleaner way to do it in my opinion.

But in any event, this approach offers a 100% GUI and NVRAM approach I believe. I hope this helps you solve the problem.

This is also helpful. VLAN ID is in fact 835 it seems with PPPoE and you'll need your user ID and password.

Hi jjwatmyself,

thank you for your help but even this attempt has failed.
I followed your instruction but it didn't work (see attached screens).
I've assigned almost every vlan to the WAN interface, I tried vlan2.835, vlan835 but none of this settings worked.

If you see my first post on this thread you can see that I've just configured my username and password for the PPPoE connection in the section Setup > Base section

I'm giving up, I spent over a month to do a very basic task: connect my router the internet but this firmware don't works for me.

Thanks to everyone tried to help me on this issue.
