Here's my home configuration:

Code:
modem --> x86 router (dd-wrt) --> switches and wireless access points incl. R7000p w/dd-wrt

Today I updated my router from v3.0-r46772 std (5/26/21) to v3.0-r47942 std (12/30/21)

and my R7000p from v3.0-r46885 std (5/26/21) to v3.0-r47942 std (12/30/21).

For my main computer I do NOT use my R7000p, but a cisco access point. I update by first taking screenshots of all relevant settings, nvram erase && reboot, update the firmware, reset settings again, then (painstakingly) re-applying the settings by hand from screenshots. It's a solid 2 hour process.

After doing this, however, I ran a speedtest on my main computer. When I first set up my network as it is now, I'd get up 600mbit speeds over wifi for this speedtest. I was then informed by my apple devices that TKIP is no longer secure, so I switched my network to CCMP only (for wireless security, INDEPENDENT of the main DD-WRT router). After doing that, my speeds dropped to around 400mbit, and I assumed for the longest time this was because my cisco access point couldn't handle the overhead of encryption/decryption. It's possible I also did a dd-wrt update while doing all that.

Now I've updated to the latest firmware, and... i'm back reliably at 500+ mbps???

No idea why. I didn't change any settings when updating. I didn't change anything on my WAP (except the one I updated which I don't connect to with my main PC), and nothing else has changed in my network.

I'm kind of dumbfounded.
