The only thing that I will add is to try a switch or a router set up as a switch in between the headless desktop and the archer. I have had a lot of success with that.
My apologies for the stripped file thing. I think that is only required for GUI flashing from the TP-Link factory firmware. I was mis-remembering.
Similar to what kernel-panic is saying. I would be highly supprised if you need to use JTAG. I often have serial hooked up for recovery just so I can see what the router is doing (watch the file transfer and flash process happen real-time). _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.
