When running the customized script of VPN server installation in r47853, it prompts:

sh: can't open'/tmp/custom.sh': No such file or directory

I guess that the file structure directory of r40853 may be different from r30471

Custom script is at /tmp/.rc_custom if this script was put in the commands box and saved as custom script.

I sent an email to StrongVPN's customer service, and every time I got a reply from a different person. Among them, some people know it better, and some people are not familiar with it, so they will just reply to the idiom and let me continue to use the old version of the DD-WRT firmware.

I just tried it. I changed the path to /tmp/.rc_custom on the command line. The same error message is still displayed. It should be caused by other reasons.

When I am ready to have some time, I will take a good look at the OpenVPN guides and documentation ----> OpenVPN Client setup guide, and then manually modify the settings.

I manually filled in the openvpn project last night and successfully connected to the VPN server. So far, the VPN connection has lasted for 28 hours, and it has not been dropped once, which is very stable.

I tested the speed of openvpn server to South Korea. The maximum speed of the new firmware r47853 is 44Mbps, and the maximum speed of the old firmware r30471 is 36Mbps. So the speed of the new firmware has been greatly improved, but the fastest VPN speed is still the VPN client on the PC side, openvpn can reach more than 60Mbps.

Both my computer and mobile phone have VPN clients. The purpose of the VPN client installed on the router is to watch the YouTube website on the TV in the living room. If you turn off the VPN connection, the TV will not be able to watch the YouTube website.

In the old firmware r30471, the TV can only watch 2K videos on YouTube smoothly through the router's VPN. Now using the new firmware r47853, the TV can watch 4K videos on YouTube smoothly through VPN.

I have successfully connected to the OpenVpn server with Scramble option on r40853.

In addition to increasing the speed of openvpn, the new version of r47853 has another advantage, that is, after turning on the SPI firewall of the router, the VPN connection speed will not be affected.

After the old version of r30471 turns on the router's spi firewall, either the initial connection is difficult or the connection speed drops.

The new version solves this bug very well.

thank you.

The customer service staff of strongvpn is not good enough and will only let me continue to use the old firmware r30471.
Later, I extracted useful information from the custom script of the old firmware and filled it into the new firmware r47853. After several attempts, the connection was successful.

In addition, please tell me, when I use OpenVpn to connect, there are two requirements, and I don’t know how to set it up

1. The router is set up with 5G WIFI and 2.4G WIFI, 5G WIFI only connects PC and mobile phone, and uses VPN channel. The smart appliance connects to 2.4G WIFI and uses the local network channel. How should this be set?

2. Most of the traffic on PCs and mobile phones use VPN channels. Several local video websites use local network channels. I already know the IP addresses of these websites. How should I set them?

That is called Policy Based Routing (PBR)
In the PBR field you can enter the interface or IP range which you want to use the VPN.

Destination routing might work if the domain/url has only one IP address but often they have more IP addresses and subdomains so that is a hit or miss

All explained in the OpenVPN Client setup guide

If you need any help start a new thread in the Advanced networking forum preferably with screenshots of your setup
