I haven't looked at the code for mobile broadband to see if it automatically does certain things or not. Wondering if maybe this is related to TTL and if setting TTL to 65 or 128 would fix it via firewall script.
Update. After trying those scripts still nothing. But I think I finally got it. I plugged the stick into my win 10 pc and accessed the web gui. It has an address of 192.168.1.1. I changed my router ip to 192.168.1.5 and now it seems to be working. The wan ip hasn't changed now and I can access everything so far. I admit I'll be mad at myself if that was the problem, I'll update later today or tomorrow if anything changes. For now it seems to be working fine.
Well, back to square one. Keeps resetting the Wan ip again and I lose internet. Odd part is the Wan ip changes but shows on the gui. I'm going to try some different commands I've found while searching the forum and post back.
I found this on the web about the modem. Maybe it's useless.
Enumerating CDC-ECMInterface
By default, the USB730L device is inEnd-User Mode. This means that only the RNDIS configuration is
exposed.ForthedevicetogetaWWANIPAddressassignment,youmustswitchtheconfigurationto
CDC-ECM.
To switch the configuration and initiate the DHCP request:
1. VerifythatyourdeviceisinEnd-UserModebyissuingthefollowingcommand:
# lsusb
If the device is in End-User Mode, the response is:
ID 1410:9030 Novatel Wireless
2. IfthedeviceisinEnd-UserMode,uninstalltheRNDISdriverbyissuingthefollowingcommand:
# sudo rmmod rndis_host
3. Switch the device to CDC-ECM configuration by issuing the following command:
# sudo usb_modeswitch –v 0x1410 –p 0x9030 –u 2
Once these steps are complete, the CDC-ECM interface is enabled on the device and the device
expects a DHCP RequestfromtheLinux server.
4. Initiate the DHCP Request to the USB730L to get the WWAN IP Addresses assigned to Linux
by issuingthefollowingcommand:
# sudo dhclient eth1
NOTE: Replace eth1 with the appropriate Ethernet interface enumeration on your setup.
Also, when I plug the 730l into my gl inet ar750, it registers as tethering not a modem. It uses openwrt with no configuring. I use it in our camper since I don't trust public wifi.
I plugged it in again after messing with it in a tp link c7 and get the same results. Today I plugged into my router again and ran "dmesg | tail". This is the output
