I've done some searching and read the wiki on usb tethering. Is there any way to get a Verizon usb modem to work with dd-wrt x86? I have the usb730l. Was thinking if it works I'd use it instead of my high internet bill.

That revision of the device may not be fully supported, or there is an issue with it, or all the required kernel modules / configs are not there. I can inquire within and see what BrainSlayer says. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

I'd appreciate that, I'm sure there is others out there that own this device. I'm going to try a powered y cable to see if it's just taking to long for the modem to wake up for the router.

Consider adding another Ethernet port to your x86 machine, or is there some limitation there?
This would help IMO if the USB modem is not an option or doesn't work well, even if it would cost a little more to add some PCI Ethernet card that could be used/configured as a WAN port and use the existing LAN port for whatever you use it now.
The you could get a regular modem instead and you know that would just WORK without fiddling with USB tethering anymore.

Do you have a separate Linux PC/laptop that you can do some research on this modem with? Not sure if you can get the same information from Windows, but that is also a possibility as well. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

@Cratebv212 Hello =)
If I may make a suggestion instead of posting pictures of the screen is to copy the text and post it within
Code:
[code][/code]
would make it easier for people on this side to have usable output to forward to the dev.
A search https://github.com/mirror/dd-wrt/search?q=Novatel nothing like that device shows up on the kernel side for USB devices since those are kernel included entries, if the Kernel supports it it should work but I dont see your device listed as your regular Linux output shows.
I cant see any indication of what version dd-wrt you are running either, but the latest build should be what you for this.
There are several ways to deal with this while you wait, you can run your modem on a regular Linux and create a Hotspot to connect your DD-WRT router to it until your device is supported out of the box.

This build is working perfectly. Temps are more stable than ever and the cooling fan doesn't run high speed as often now.
But I think I see why this modem isn't working. The kernel is 4.9 and the rndis host code may not be in the 4.9 tree among other possible oversights. I've updated BrainSlayer just now via email. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
