At least give us something relevant to read to explain why you're posting something about OpenWRT here...

The issue as far as I know was solved and wasn't related to the driver, so I am a little perplexed by this tangent. Perhaps my cup of coffee has filesystem bugs after all =)

I'm sure it's been explained many times that DD-WRT uses the same driver as OpenWRT. I could follow-up, but as old as that thread is, it coincides with similar developments here as best I recall.

It's for streaming media. If you don't use your 2.4 band for that, it's a negligible loss.

WMM is part of IEEE 802.11n
Without WMM most cients will fall back to legacy mode and connect only at lagacy rates (54Mbit)

Yes so this is negligible if you have only 54Mbit instead of max 800Mbit phy rate

I thought recent Marvell drivers have an ESP setting in the wireless settings?

I could be mistaken as I do not own Marvell gear

Yes the option is also available on Marvel routers "LDPC (disable for ESP8266)".

https://svn.dd-wrt.com/changeset/44397

But it depends on the used dd-wrt build
The option was added sometime after r44397

Which nobody picked up on my alluding to that setting if present, but the WMM setting and that setting are both "known" workarounds for this issue.

I can't find any technical specs on any of the Honeywell wi-fi enabled dehumidifiers, but maybe it has that Chinese ESP* chipset garbage in it....
