Someone reported on the Netgear forums that on a wired connection the download speed on WNDR3700v3 is 160-180 Mbps.
I'm getting just barely over 100 Mbps on mine. When bypassing the router and plugging my laptop directly into the modem, I'm getting like 200 Mbps, so it must be the router. (The test is done simply by using speedtest.net. Wifi was turned off on my laptop.)
Why is my WNDR3700v3 not able to get the same 160-180 Mbps? Is it faster on stock firmware than on DD-WRT?
EDIT: I tried it again and this time made sure to disable both radios in the web GUI, and it pushed up to about 120 Mbps. That's still like 50% slower than what was reported on the Netgear forums with this router. _________________ Not all those who wander are lost

I do recall that the binary object file for the CTF module was in the GPL tarballs for Linksys and others, and I presume that BrainSlayer has the actual source code to compile new object files for current kernel versions. Because they may not work otherwise. BCM_FASTNAT module was for MIPS AFAIK. I would have to experiment with another firmware to build with CTF module included from the tree for MIPS to enable it and see if it breaks or check to see if it is available on DD-WRT for MIPS. Sorry that I neglected to include that detail. In my defense (sort of), it was because I first tried experimenting with a few builds, based on at least one thread I found, in which someone claimed that an older build improved the speed without changing any settings; notably, it was also with a Netgear router, although different model. I tried it first on 47495, then downgraded to 37305--about the same result, then on 44715--also about the same. So I figured this is probably an issue inherent to DD-WRT in general, regardless of build. After posting this, I continued searching the forums and found other threads in which users reported faster throughput on stock firmware.
From my other thread (https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=330639), it was suggested I read the "Hardware" wiki, where I learned about the basics of SFE, CTF, and FA. (Never would've thought to read that wiki otherwise.)

I'm now back on build v3.0-r47495 mega (09/28/21), and I also don't see anything regarding CTF (or FA) in the "Basic Setup" tab. I do see the "Shortcut Forwarding Engine" line, and it's set to "Enable".
So, in conclusion, do you agree that it's pretty typical for speeds to be substantially slower with DD-WRT compared to stock firmware? (Unless CTF and FA are available?) _________________ Not all those who wander are lost

Are you on a K3x build or K26? K26 does not have a functioning SFE option, only K3x does. You also need 46690 K3x or newer for CTF. It is preferred that you flash and test the most recent release:

I'm on K26. Could you remind me of the procedure please? Do I need to first have the same K26 build and then only flash the same build, but K3x version?
