I have been reading on the forum about configuring dnsmaqs. There appears to be number of discussions for example:

If third part DNS servers are specified in basic setup, do I leave section the additional DNSMasq section balnk? (as i think it is working okay)

Does any one know what is the correct but straight forward method to achieve best performance?.

Place the 3 fastest DNS servers you know in static DNS 1,2,3

Disable 'Query DNS in strict-order'

Is a good starting point.

If you disable DNSMasq it is not working anymore.

I have inserted TWO ip4 and TWO IP6 dns servers (Adguard) in the basic setup with ignoring ISP servers.

should I go beyond this such as inserting anything in the additional DNSMasq or this is actually the best performance>

I aso did DNS leak test- it appears that only ip4 dns is used and not ip6?

do you actually have any ipv6 from your ISP?

If not disable the lot, even in the ethernet adapters on pcs etc.

I have ip6 from the ISP.

I checked with nslookup and it is resolving both ip4 and ip6 DNS. Just wondering if any other settings for DNS needs to be in place apart from the above to derive the most benefit from dd-wrt system?

Would It be also good to enable smart DNS as well? Would that further improve query return times...

Only if you know how to configure SmartDNS. There is information in the forum on what users' have contributed as far as working configurations, if I am not mistaken.
