Did that. No joy. As I say, I can't even see the device on the LAN. What good are user credentials? And shouldn't "public" make it open to anyone on the LAN?

Samba server string should be router name, workgroup should match client devices, afaik. There may be some quirk or glitch where the server string and router name *has* to be DD-WRT? _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

Tried it with both my router name and "dd-wrt" as the server string. Still can't see it on the LAN. It's just this laptop and the router on this LAN. My wifi and the router wifi are both turned off.
all I can tell ya mine work perfectly fine without NO 'string' or 'workgroup'
yeahuh I can access them all just fine using WIN10 but I really have NO use for that mess
AND I access them by their name.domain cause I also have always used local DNS
main gateway EA8500
other EA8500...yeahuh she has 2 flash drives stuck in her
I never did try typing the network address or hostname into the address bar in exploder. Duh. That works! And now that I did that, it shows up under "computers". Thanks, guys!

I completely forgot about the ip address/hostname thing that @mrjcd mentioned Glad you got it sorted. I'm sure some folks could've been much quicker on the draw had they participated _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
