But you can give it any address inside the subnet but outside the DHCP scope and not used by a static lease and the router itself (of course the first 0 and the last 255, when a /24 subnet is used, are also not allowed.
I don't see a "Assign WAN Port to Switch " even after WAN is disabled. I am on DD-WRT v3.0-r47474 std" _________________ Upgraded to

None; it's no longer required. If the port doesn't work, however, it needs to be noted properly. I have not had a chance to verify on devices configured as wired APs / switches personally, but folks have said that it does work. Only one way to find out. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

Yes, I was unable to use the WAN port initially after the function was removed on an E4200v1, but I have not done a complete hard reset after some of the snafu's that happened which I used nvram set to override. I need to re-visit that to be sure; but you are correct that it does connect to the CPU. I think other code makes this negligible and doesn't require the function on some devices, perhaps. I would have to dig into the code to see for sure. We are still dealing with the aftermath of this and fixing the webUI display of ports. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
