did you read the forum guidelines ?? there is mentioned that, "you must share details about your set up" so, ppl will be more capable to understand where the problem is...and help you out...

90% of bad WiFi is due to bad setting used...fact...

99% of ppl having issues...are due to not reading forum guidelines and other valuable information...and caring bad set up...

i suspect where is the problem... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing

r47381 on an old dlink dir-300 A1

thats the setup. no changes. i have 2 of these but one is playing up. from testing i found full rebooting it got rid of the high load issue so not sure why as these are all stock configs. may a first boot fail glitch.

beside that it works ok now, but there is a wifi issue
when running a wifi speed test it will start up high and then drop off to almost 0/ upload works fine
at 54mbps wifi should be about 10-13mbps up.down

i have tried to enable and disable so many things. but nothing seems to work.

as i said the other dir 300 a1 . works perfect no changes.

i did notice the he new firmware list it as ar2317
and the old 2008 firmware says its Atheros AR2315

This could be the old ghost load issue in regression or choice of browser or a config-related "issue". The wifi settings sticky and wiki is a good start for information on how to address your wifi issues. One of the key things is to not use autochannel. If you wish to step through this and can post appropriately-sized screenshots, maybe we can figure this out. I will also suggest disabling uPnP and ttraf in the webUI and rebooting.

https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=324014

https://forum.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Atheros/ath_wireless_settings

As far as hardware identification in the webUI or otherwise, don't look too deep into that as it may just be cosmetic. I would have to consult the developer.

thanks,
i think the load issue for now is fixed by a hard reboot.
i will see if it comes back and report.

what i find odd is i have 2x dir300 A1
both hard reset with no changes. one works no issues the other has this wifi bug on the download most evident.

i have read every forum i can find on this topic and tried many settings but nothing has worked so far

im wondering if there is a bug or some hardware diff.
i dont know how to test further.

Older hardware does not last forever. It could be a failing hardware issue. Default settings are not optimal; they are merely a starting point.

understand that, but apples to apples. one works fine the other gives wifi issues.

im going to go stock dlink and test that theory.

so far its only wifi unstable. only on the download. it even drops out. weird behaviour

i feel it may be a hardware thing maybe a small change with the 2.

anyway i will play some more and report back

how can this be added to the wiki for the dir 300 a

how to flash back

ok my mistake...
after flashing the dir300-A1 back to stock dlink 1.05

the speeds are massively higher. both wired and wireless.
50/20mbps down/up vs. around 13/13 ddwrt
so both dir300 were not running proper speed on ddwrt. for LAN OR WIFI.

have i missed something? or are these just not working well on for ddwrt? i have tried so many firmwares and betas.

i have spent way to much time on these old things any advise?

Consider stock firmware likely has an older, un-patched Linux 2.6 or 3.x kernel as well as different drivers and such for the hardware which are more friendly to the anemic ancient devices than DD-WRT is. This is kind of a given and known issue of sorts, but if you are not using optimal settings for the wifi and clients involved in your speedtests, then I can only make semi-educated guesses. It's a shame that others are not offering input.

ddwrt was supported for dlink dir300
im not sure why the speed is slow on both lan and wifi link.

what would be the config issue for the lan connections to be slow?

DD-WRT v24-sp1 (07/26/0Cool std
and latest 2021 firmware works but slow speeds

its not a cpu load issue from what i can see in TOP

any ideas what i can test or change?

I really don't know what you're expecting out of this thing; it's CPU is only 183 MHz; 4MB flash, 16MB ram.

https://wikidevi.wi-cat.ru/D-Link_DIR-300_rev_A1

And correction: Stock firmware is Linux 2.4; I don't know what kernel DD-WRT runs on this thing without researching it or you posting the information.

what information do you need?

as explained after installed the stock firmware again the lan and wan speed work perfect

im trying to find the issue or bug when ddwrt is installed

yes its an old device but it works perfect testing and my long range links.

any help to troubleshoot the issue would be great
