Here is an update: Today I was able to flash my Asus_rt-ac68u with the Sept 17, 2021 BS build. I flashed from the kongac graphical interface. This time my router was not bricked and the firmware worked as expected. However there are 2 issues:

1) When making a change in the router config using the GUI, after making a change, it will always go to routeripaddress/apply.cgi which throws a page that says that the page is not available. I then have to navigate to the routeripaddress and back to the page where I made the change. I tested this with Opera and Firefox. This is very annoying especially when making several changes in the configs. The same issue happened on my Asus rt-ac56u which I flashed with the same build.

2) I could not get the SoftEther client to work. The SoftEther SERVER does work on my Asus rt-ac56u router using the same BS build but the client would not work on this router. I set the client to enable in the GUI, pasted the config into the box. I also tried to manually configure the client. The "vpnclient" command is not recognized.

So I ended up reverting to the kongac build from 2017 so that I can run SoftEther.

So, report it in the build thread, please. Orphan build reports are not good.

Feel free to run ancient unsupported and undeveloped CVE filled kong builds.

On issue 1) a non issue, clicking apply will restart networking stack you need to wait because networking is restarting right? So if it immediately doesn't load, well, its normal since networking is restarting. did I mention clicking apply restarts networking?
