Firmware: v3.0-r47381 std (09/08/21)
Router/Version: Netgear R7000
Previous: v3.0-r45767 std (02/07/21)
Mode/Status: too long to explain, using near every feature available in ddwrt and more
Reset: None, just reboot
Issues/Errors: Soft Bricked -- boot loop problem, needs 30/30/30 reset to be brought alive, backup config from r45767 not working, same boot loop happens after restore, useless firmware, wanted to upgrade from r45767 due to High avg Load when hitting the DD-WRT WebUI. Other problem with v3.0-r45767 std (02/07/21) I had that it crawled to halt after 180 days of uptime, high latency, some packet drop, 2.4GHz mostly quit working, again High avg Load and could barely ssh to 192.168.1.1

Reverted back to r45767 (02/07/21) and restored config, all working again (I have very complex setup with mutiple VLANs, multiple home subnets, some isolated subnets with custom iptables rules, unbridged 2.4Ghz and also bridged to eth3 port that I use to run cat5 cable to basement that connects to another ddwrt router and and among things serves as WiFi extender, and many more details....I just can't start fresh again, would take me days to reconfigure/test on newest firmware. Any ideas what could be causing boot loop in newer firmware?

Yes. First off, swconfig support, which changed how vlans are handled. You need to wipe and reconfigure from scratch to use a build after 46446.

'dd-wrt.v24-47381_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega.bin'
GUI installl over r47377
WAP + isolated guest net
all worky fine

ummm ...it really is NOT worky fine
it just rebooted itself couple hrs ago
It has done that few times.
It's real good for 'bout 30 hrs then it might just reboot itself for some silly reason.
Ain't got any logs. This is main internet connection at folks place.
Dishnetwork, Samsung TV w/ all them internet plus channels Dad watches sometimes is connected to its guest net.
All other devices connected to its main net. All its switch ports are full w/wired devices.
Don't know what's up ...keep thinking BS will put out a new decent build for the broadcomy units,
if not soon I'll have to revert it to an old build or swap it with the E2500

just a simple WAP is at their place also but only couple devices connected to it.
Got Mom to connect her well used iPad to it yesterday to relieve the ASUS but that didn't fix it.
E2500 is good --- Uptime 3 days, 2:21

don't see others reporting this ... oh well Rolling Eyes

I barely remember that your RT-N12 was using a really old build. Did you reset all settings during firmware upgrade? Worth a trial since you have a backup router, and if you had time...

this Asus RT-N12D1 has NOT ben reset in long while ..run perfect and for long time w/ r43904

r47371 over r43094
r47377 over r47371
r47381 over r47377

didn't see same problem w/ r47371 or r47377
I don't really see the point in a reset right now ...prolly just swap it out then reset the ol girl soon Razz

working okdokey since it rebooted itself last

Router: Asus RT-AC66U
Mode: AP
File: DD-WRT v3.0-r44863 giga (11/24/20)
Kernel: Well, the one included in the build - which is to say, in this case: Linux 4.4.283 #11700 Wed Sep 8 06:47:29 +07 2021 mips
Reset: no
Status: Mostly working. Everything I have tried works well - with the following exception. As in some (many?) previous builds, guest wifi is unusable until one edits its password (even if such as to set it to the existing guest password) persists - and irritates.
Previous build: 44849.
Uptime: some three days.
Flashed via: GUI.

I am grateful for the dd-wrt software.

Mode: WAP; DNSMasq server with two isolated guest networks (not port or vlan based); DHCP Server is off; WAN disabled; Operating Mode=Router; config’d using https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Guest_Network#VAP_with_no_WAN
Status: Successful upgrade. No issues. Isolated guest network and all existing f/w rules are in-place and working. WiFi performance tests results are very good.

Broadcom VAP's (e.g. a guest wifi) often needs the VAP workaround, I use no 4 but there are more flying around:
Quote:
From approximately mid 2018 VAP's on Broadcom units are problematic, you cannot connect or do not get an IP address. There are workarounds:
1) When VAP is not working at boot; workaround startup command Administration/Commands, Save as Startup:
sleep 10; stopservice nas; stopservice wlconf; startservice wlconf; startservice nas;
2) Alternative way to get VAP working: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=317181
3) An other user reports the following workaround (save as startup):
sleep 4; stopservice cron; stopservice wlconf; wlconf eth1 up; wlconf eth2 up; startservice cron;
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=319412
4)This one is from @Redhawk (guaranteed to work ):
sleep 20; stopservice nas; wlconf eth1 down; wlconf eth2 down; wlconf eth1 up; wlconf eth2 up; startservice nas; logger "VAP workaround executed";

Today, the PCs attached to the router lost connection to it. Only the 1st port and the "WAN" port (which in the configuration is just another LAN port) still worked.

When looking at the "switch config", now all 5 ports are shown, but the 3 previously invisible ones were switched off. After switching them back on and adding them to VLAN 1, everything is fine, again.
