Setup the other WNDR3700v4 w/ r47381
erased and reconfig for my daughter to replace the E2500 they have been using.
They got tons of things/junk connected to their router like most young folks these days so the dual band
on this will help lots for their silly iPhoneys anyways
Plan to turn on its 'unbound' when I take it to her in couple hours.
It will be connected to their (in brigde mode) cable modem same as E2500 is now.
Maybe it will do them a good job.
I set it with the new 'Dracula' theme which is pretty cool
This one is new. Is this an issue with DNSMasq or was this an issue on one of my clients? I had routing freeze for about 3 minutes and I see this in the logs. Once it cleared, all was normal.

dnsmasq[1963]: Maximum number of concurrent DNS queries reached (max: 150)
this is more like an indication of dns heavy use or malicious activity…you can increase the number of concurrent queries via command…my routers are fine
p.s. in very special and rare occasions DNSmasq 2.85 can excite the number of concurrent queries
"Revise resource handling for number of concurrent DNS queries. This used to have a global limit, but that has a problem when using different servers for different upstream domains. Queries which are routed by domain to an upstream server which is not responding will build up and trigger the limit, which breaks DNS service for all other domains which could be handled by other servers."
in the next build DNSmasq 2.86 is expected, where those issues are sorted.... _________________ Atheros

well phooydamn --found out when I got there they had trouble a while back with internet and called ZITO.
Of course them silly people reset their cable/modem and apparently install some different firmware on it.
The E2500 was still working sitting right on top of the modem. Of course it was double NATed and its wireless was real shitty with
the modems wireless both blasting right together. It was a pitiful situation
Stupid thing will NOT go into bridge mode any longer...the same buttons are there which should put it in bridge mode but after
working on it for few hours I gathered up all my goodies and come back to my homeworld.
I been telling them to get on Brazos Internet like me since they now have fiber in Graham and lots of folks have changed to them & love it.
She then tells me they are in contract with ZITO so that is that...money, money, money!!!
Kinda glad to have my 3700v4 back ...its a good'n
reset & reconfig as my main gateway setup more/less same as the EA8500
35 static leases
VLAN on port4 + wlan0.1 via br1
NO forced different/DNS for br1 on this.
everything uses unbound
port range forwards
SAMBA share 32GB ext4
HTB CAKE
Cloned WAN MAC
NO ovpn server on this ol girl ...she will do it but it is a lil much for her & I gottem on WAPs anyways
still liking the Dracula theme

@mrjcd: Do they have access to the configs on the modem? I have two DSL modems at one location that the only thing I now cannot turn off is the "service technician" wifi. So we have to set our APs to other channels People and ISPs who *must* have wifi access to their modems, routers, switches, network management should be shot. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

yea, I can still access it and for the most part it looked like it always did but there is NO way to put in bridge mode or disable its wireless. Stuff is still there but nothing works like it should any longer. Putting it in bridge mode used to disable its LAN & wifi and put you straight with a WAN but that no longer worky. Tried many times and always got locked out and NO access to a WAN....done its reset button many times till I just said hellwithit
for some silly reason its wifi seems to work better than it did in old days...works really well since I got the E2500 off top of it so it was working ok for them when I left. Their TV, tablets, iPhoneys all was ok so I said well enough then ...course it will track everything they even think about going to oh well..
She just tells me they are in a contract with them but I have NO ideal what all that entails.
Will just leave well enough alone for now...they will get rid of the whole mess soon as contract is up.

I'm liking this old 3700v4 as main ... she seems to be doing a good job so far

I have come across a cable modem that just had the GUI pages to switch to bridged mode hidden. You had to find out the its name to be able to access it.
Up for 24 hours. One hiccup, maximum DNS requests hit and the router stopped for about 3 minutes. It recovered and has not had a problem since. Not sure if this was a router issue or something on my network. _________________ Netgear R9000
