The primary router is a Centurylink DSL modem/router. The secondary router is a Buffalo WHR-G300N with DD-WRT v24-sp2 and is set up to be a repeater bridge. The setup worked for a long time, but recently the secondary keeps loosing connection to the primary. I found out the problem was that the CenturyLink router keeps changing its wireless channel even when I set it to a fixed channel. As long as I change the secondary's channel selection (in the "physical interface") to that of the primary, it works, that is, until the primary switches channel again. I tried to set the channel on the secondary to "Auto". That didn't work. For the wireless mode, the primary is set to be a/b/g/n. On the secondary, I tried G-Only, N-Only, GN-mixed. For the channel width on the secondary, I have the options to select either 20 or 40 MHz. And I haven been using 20 MHz.

Any ideas on how to make the "Auto" mode for channel selection to work in DD-WRT?

Is it a v1 or v2 or a WHR-HP-G300N?

If any of them you are posting in the wrong forum to begin with. Please refer to the forum rules and guidelines.

Please consider upgrading to a more recent release:

Search the forum first to see if anyone has reported issues in bricking your specific device on any specific builds.

Also, there really isn't much to configure to wirelessly connect to an upstream router; people seem to over-configure things and run into issues.

It is v1 and should be Ralink based. If this is the wrong forum, I couldn't find another one that is more suitable. Would appreciate the direction to the right forum.

I did search on the topic prior to posting. I should have clarified. But I will do further searching and will try upgrade to the latest beta.

Thank you.

Not a thread about your specific router, but it may help:

And the wiki:
