has anyone had success forcing duckduckgo safe search on their routers?
I did this for bing and google by adding cnames, and then adding the cname and IP to a local host file.
The challenge with ddgo is that unlike bing and google, ddgo redirects to the zone apex. traditionally this wouldn't work with cname=duckduckgo.com,safe.duckduckgo.com.
Am i wrong? what is the right way to do this on dd?
Edit - i fifured it out, i added the root domain as additional server name in my additional hosts file.
@kernel-Panic69 I read that post and was asking for clarification. Very specifically DNSMASQ seems to follow the strict cname standard and you cannot cname a zone apex. ie duckduckgo.com. I already have a working solution if someone types www.duckduckgo.com, but not if they type duckduckgo.com. this is not an issue for google or bing because they redirect the zone apex if used to www. . DuckDuckgo, does the opposite and redirects to the zone apex.
It also appears according to MAN pages that there is no ALIAS option which is what is really needed.
Is my only option to add an address=\duckduckgo.com,<ip adress for safe.duckduckgo.com>
