Hi,
Maybe I am completely misunderstanding the way this is supposed to work. I am setting in static DNS 1 the IP for Adguard running on my Home Assistant instance.
However all my clients receive the router's IP as DNS and not the one I am specifying. Isn't that supposed to be the point of setting this in DHCP? So the clients all get it?
BTW, the router itself IS relaying the queries to the Adguard instance. I can see that basically all requests from the network are getting there.

On what router, on what build number of DD-WRT? This should be included on every post when you're asking a question for help, and if you read the sticky in this forum, you would know that the General forum is NOT for device help.
It would also help if you shared a screenshot of and all applicable dnsmasq settings on your router. I am pretty sure I am not asking for "Device help" unless we mean different things. Basically I am asking in what way do the DHCP settings behave. I expect that transcends a specific device no?
Anyways if this is the wrong place for this question my apologies, I only posted here because I saw other DHCP related questions here when searching for an answer. If so please point me in the right direction.

I managed to get it working but only by disabling dnsmasq. Not sure that is the right approach here?

You could've also used forced dns redirection as well as the no-resolv and server= additional configuration lines, perhaps. Please take a moment or however long to refer to the forum rules and guidelines and read them in entirety and let them soak in. Yes is correct and certainly logical.
If you want that the clients get directly the IP address of the DNS server then "disable DNSMasq".
But you should also activate "ignore WAN DNS".
Without this option the clients get 3 DNS servers via DHCP and it is not said that the client queries the servers in strict order.
