Running an RT-N66U on V3-r44483 as a repeater bridge and have six questions (I have already done loads of Googling, trust me):

1) Am I correct in saying that the RT-N66U is not powerful enough to run Samba4? (I am asking this because it is a comment I have seen whilst Googling).

2) Is there a build for the RT-N66U that includes an NFS server? (I have tried 8 different builds and can't find one).

3) Assuming the RT-N66U can run Samba4 is there a guide anywhere as to how to set it up via Entware? (I am ok with installing Entware and downloading the package but then get stuck with what to do thereafter and can't find the answers in the Wiki/Google).

4) If the answer is 'No' to the NFS on an RT-N66U out of interest why is this? (I am also running a WNDR4500 V2 on V3-r44483 and an NFS server is built in as standard).

5) If there is no build for the RT-N66U including an NFS server is there a guide anywhere as to how to set one up via Entware? (I am still ok with installing Entware but this time I can't work out which package(s) to download and what to do thereafter and again I can't find the answers in the Wiki/Google).

6) Can't think of a number 6 sorry.

P.S. There are no questions about what to do on the client end, it is the server end causing me grief.

Samba 4 is resource intensive but the main problem with Samba4 is that it is big. So the developer decided not to add it but instead to add the in kernel samba.
You can try to install it and see what happens but in your case you are better off with Samba3 if you cannot live with the in kernel Samba.

I think some builds have CIFS available but I do not know if NFS is available in any build
https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/NFS

For some of the routers I administer I use a build with Samba3.
I once made a build with NFS and that works so it is possible to compile it in if you know how to compile DDWRT Smile

Thanks for the replies but unfortunately I do not know how to compile DDWRT, however yes; I have Entware installed to Opt and on the back of egc's Samba4 comments I am happy to forget about Samba but wouldn't mind getting an NFS server up and running with Entware.

The part I have a problem with is what to do once Entware is installed and what package(s) are needed plus how to then install/get them and set them up correctly.

The following pictures may be of assistance, I am hoping to share the two files shown which are stored on sdb1:

It is some time ago I used entware but the wiki was working then for me:
https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Installing_Entware

This is the Entware packages list:
https://bin.entware.net/armv7sf-k3.2/Packages.html

NFS is listed but I cannot help with the packages you need to install Sad

Yes, that DD-WRT WiKi is the guide I originally followed and I have Entware installed on an EXT2 flash drive mounted to Opt but I can't find any guides which tell you how to then install the correct NFS server package(s) and get it set up to serve the contents of the two files which are on an NTFS SSD mounted on sdc1.

(Ignore where it shows them on sdb1 in the pictures above, I never rebooted before doing the pictures sorry).

to get and install nfs server:
Code:
opkg install nfs-kernel-server

then google "how to configure nfs-kernel-server"
