Upgraded WRT1200AC v1's from r47074 to r47086 using Brave 1.10.97 (64-bit) running on Linux Mint 20.2 OS hardwired via Cat6.

Successful update and reboot. No reset, nothing disabled prior to update, uptime approx 3+ hrs, wired/wireless connected, vpn up immediately (Expressvpn). SFE, QoS and IPv6 are always disabled. OpenVPN client/DNSMasq and radios always enabled. I do not have any Apple devices. I do not use NAS.

Kernel Version Linux 4.9.276 #2755 SMP Thu Jul 22 01:23:52 +07 2021 armv7l

No issues with a routine update session.

Hi, I have the same router as you. Been up five minutes on this version. I looked at the two settings you mentioned thinking I would try them if I had an issue. However, my default values for those two are 100 and 2. If I do a factory reset, they are still 100 and 2.

Are your values something else by default? Looks like those settings are only on the physical interfaces.

Beacon Interval 100, and DTIM Interval 2 are the defaults settings. Changing these settings never help my WRT3200ACM wifi interface with devices any better. Picking another wifi channel is the better setting to change.

I don't have any Apple clients. Hey maybe this will also help all the other random Android devices that also drops wifi connections. Apple recommends a DTIM setting of at least 3 surely after all these years using the WRT3200ACM someone would have shared this fix a long time ago. Or is it a fix 🤔. Maybe its an improvement 🤔. Did the user comment with use of Apple devices changes to DTIM helped, or are we speculating its a Apple issue 🤔. With build r44048 Beacon Interval 100, and DTIM Interval 2 are the default setting, and most Apple, and Android users had mostly reliable wifi. Sounds like false hope.

This fact is mentioned all over the internet and dd-wrt forums. Apple advice is for any router, to improve battery life over wifi from analysis they made on their products (which uses intel and qualcomm stuff, which exists for practically any wireless device brand). Which clearly will also affect any wireless device connected to it. It's not a fix, is a fine tune setting that some find usefull, some want the interface wake all the time (like wireless gamers yuk).

In this pandemic era, where people mostly stay at home, I find this usefull to not leave devices in the charger because they go full promiscuous with the radio.

Previous Marvell threads indicate BI/DTIM do not behave very well outside of default, surely we remember.

Feel free to play with Beacon Interval / DTIM; ignore known SNAFU history with Linksys Marvell WRT series.

Maybe try a build from this year before making recommendations because it is all over the internet forums.

Who knows maybe results have changed, then one can report this information into respective build threads.

I have been using that settings more than a year from what I remember. I don't see any problems on that, maybe it's a placebo if this settings don't truly change anything behind scenes for dd-wrt. But at least is not a downside.

Not following the hype on internet, following Apple hints https://twitter.com/revolutionwifi/status/725489216768106496?s=20.

The analysis has ben made here: https://www.sniffwifi.com/2016/05/go-to-sleep-go-to-sleep-go-to-sleep.html

Cheers,

By way of a quick review, it's the Beacon Interval moving off of the default 100 that leads to huge issues with these routers. No problem changing DTIM in my experience.
