I have a Netgear WNDR4300 that has DD-WRT r31277 firmware installed. The version of OpenVPN (version 2.4.x) in the DD-WRT firmware (a 2017 build) is old and I am stuck with this particular build at the moment unless someone has a solution to the problem I am facing (https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=329730). So I looked around to see if there is an alternative and there may be - OpenVPN from Entware which has version 2.5.3. My question here is would I be able to run it if I install OpenVPN from Entware? And how? Thanks.

I recommend upgrading and providing as much information as possible for your client bridge issue on 5GHz radio. Output of serial console log, dmesg, cat /var/log/messages, etc. In that other thread, of course. Seems like all you are doing is playing whack-a-mole which is counterintuitive. We can't fix anything if people don't report and give information that would be helpful to fix it. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

That is encouraging. As a matter of fact, I had ventured into Entware after I posted the question. But as you said, it is complicate and I am lost after installed the OpenVPN package. I believe the package from Entware is very similar to the one in OpenWrt and I have installed the OpenVPN package in OpenWrt many times. Currently I have OpenVPN running in OpenWrt on a Pogoplug V4 and the effort here is to combine two separate devices (Pogoplug and WNDR4300) into one (WNDR4300).
