The .chk files are for initial flash; most all .chk files for official builds are factory-to-ddwrt files, which means they are for flashing from stock firmware. The .bin files are for upgrading (or downgrading) an existing DD-WRT installation. Yes, that is the current release... #pogothreadisnear _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

Thanks for the explanation. So since it's using the DD-WRT graphical interface I need the .BIN file.
Maybe what happened was that I upgraded the version and the old backup file wasn't compatible for the 2018 ver wasn't compatible with the newer 2020 ver. It stinks that they aren't compatible.

Using an nvram backup has caveats, especially when nvram variables change. I generally don't do any kind of reset until something goes screwy and want to clear out gremlins. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
