Odd problem. Sometimes hours or days in between wl1 (5GHz radio only) will lose bridging to the LAN and WAN connections. Full signal strength, but no connection to anything. One way to recover is to switch the Wireless Network Mode to Disabled, Apply Settings, then back to AC/N-Mixed, Apply Settings. Works fine again for some random period of time.

Seen this sort of thing before? Is it a known problem with Netgear R7000P units, or possibly just my unit? I'm on r46885, and I've seen this on earlier revs, sometimes much worse.

On my D-Link dir-880l I experienced this a few days ago. Same thing, disabling and re-enabling wl1 got it up and running again. It hasn't happened since.

I do have it too... its been since Vanilla/DDWRT settings appeared my R7800 2,4Ghz WiFi is buggy on random occasions, Iphones, W10 machines loose internet access, while still connected..or w10 gets wi-fi drops on first connection until x3 try's and, than it gets stable connection...currently auto router reboot on regular basis via GUI option...sometimes manual needed...
still debugging option by option, when I have a time...

I was experimenting with msoengineer's sticky post. But his setting are based on Atheros radios that work fine but for Broadcom they and didn't work well for me.

I left these settings disabled...
- Explicit Beamforming
- Airtime Fairness

For Broadcom Arm SoC from default I have made these changes to the WL0 & WL1 Advanced Tabs....

Frag Threshold: 784
RTS Threshold: 784
Preamble: short
Shortslot Override: short
TX Power: Manual 499

I've tested these setting on a couple of R7000s on build 47033 and working fine.

Channel selection is important pick one that are free or at least the lowest dbi readings and least number of APs on a channel from other APs around you (big issue with 2.4Ghz).

For better range and speed on the R7000's WL0 2.4Ghz use 20Mhz Channel Width with NG-Mixed.

Thanks @mac913. Your settings are mostly consistent with with @msoengineer 's BCM recommendations https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=327595, except for Explicit Beamforming and the Tx power settings.

RE Tx power, is there any known risk of burning up the radios by setting power to max (999 mW), as per the recommendations? I've left my Tx power's at Auto, assuming there's some smarts and safety behind this setting.

I take it that you do not have wireless routing dropouts as described in the OP?

I have these settings at off-site #1 and no one has complained to me about drop-outs with all the the streaming that goes on. Have set TX to Manual (along with the other settings) on the R7000s on newer builds because of very slow connections.

If the Radios are allowed for 1W Max then they are designed for it.

At my home I have the R7800 5Ghz set to 30dBi Max at 1000mW and the 2.4Ghz is set to 21dBi (about 125mW) for the same coverage around the house. The 5Ghz is working fine at Max.
