You make it sound like I am talking about deleting a forum thread out of existence.
I am talking about preventing further posts from being made to it so it's "read-only". And I assume that by doing this, there is a better focus on newer builds rather than going backward. _________________ For people who are new to the dd-wrt forums >> http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html#rtfm

Sometimes a post belongs in a thread. Sometimes it does not. These are all decided one case at a time.
People are going to do what they do. Lock a thread and a new one appears. 1. This is all so very pointless.
So to clarify, if the old thread for past build was closed, someone will make another thread based on that build. Then it makes sense to leave the old thread build open. I am understanding this now.

The only time we close or lock a build thread is if it is removed from the download server or sometimes if it's a bad build that will brick devices, etc. Outside of that, we don't close or lock them. There has been only one exception this year to that, and only because I wasn't sure if I should lock the threads for r46949 and open all new threads for r46935. IRT merging posts to another thread, I know moderator access cannot do it, and I cannot for the life of me remember if on phpBB 2.x administrator access has the ability to. I do know that the search index for this forum needs to be wiped and rebuilt due to database size and other things. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
