Default value is "gateway". What will happen behind the scene if I select "router"?

What are you using in case have intensive web server behind the router? (is this related?)

Thanks

"Router" mode is used when configuring the device as a wired AP or switch.

Thanks. Did you describe Operating Mode - https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/images/5/55/Static_Routes_2.png ? Where are Gateway, Router, BGP and other modes? If so, thanks, probably missing some bits to understand what will happen if I change from Gateway to Router.

You will loose NAT and connection tracking.

If your router is connected to the Internet leave it in Gateway mode (actually I would usually leave it in gateway mode because it either does not matter (bridged/WAP) or has a habit of breaking things, on older slower routers or if you really have problems with dual NAT (like VoiP) you can make a case for router mode if the router is internal behind another router under your control and which supports static routing)

have a look at GUI Operation mode very right there is a help, click n'read modes... Cool

Apart of that, newcomers with no idea, believe router is correct mode, as the unit is called router... Rolling Eyes

Actually, the most used mode is Gateway ... Laughing
