I call to your attention a three apps I've developed that may be of value to this community:
- routermonitor (https://github.com/cjnaz/routermonitor) is invaluable to me for keeping track of what's on my LAN. It works with dd-wrt (/tmp/dnsmasq.leases) to track devices on the network, and sends notifications when a new device shows up on the LAN or wireless. It supports searching by partial MAC addresses, hostnames, and IP addresses; and supports annotation notes. I run it as a service, checking every 15 minutes. No more struggle trying to track down mystery devices, and I quickly hear about when my kids give out the WiFi password!
- wanstatus (https://github.com/cjnaz/wanstatus) watches for internet outages and WAN-side IP address changes, and sends notifications. Curious about how often your ISP drops service in the middle of the night?
- lanmonitor (https://github.com/cjnaz/lanmonitor) keeps an eye on the status of key services, processes, web pages, file system age, … and sends notifications for anything unhealthy, and daily summaries. It is fully plug-in based and easily extensible. It's probably redundant with Nagios, but hey, I still think its cool. (not directly dd-wrt related)
Please feel free to share these, or fork them, or post issues/requests. If you find value in these please hit the star button and follow in github. If you want to contribute lanmonitor plugins, that would be wonderful.
What other such utilities are out there? (I'll be checking out easydup.)
regards,
