I was ok build 46329 and experienced a myriad of WiFi issues at first. I finally got it stable, but I was still experiencing internet drops. I want to try a different build. Does anyone have any recommendations?

The standard advice, repeated many times in these Marvell threads, is 46069 (though do NOT enable "802.11w Management Frame Protection" if there are iOS devices connecting) or, if that still gives you too much trouble (very possible with iOS MacOS clients), 44048. The latter is from August 2020, but it's become the standard fallback for Linksys/Marvell routers.

Somewhere on the timeline between those two builds is a point that, if crossed from where you are now, will force you to reset (recessed red button in back for 10s or do "nvram erase && reboot" in the CLI) and re-enter your entire configuration. Huge PITA.

i use the WRT3200ACM just for my VPN Connection. I have vpn connection issues with the newer builds frequently. My VPN Provider wrote me that their Infrastructure not Support yet OpenVpn 2.5. till now only OpenVpn 2.4. Can anyone tell me when the OpenVpn Version was changed in the DDWRT Builds?

I’ve had no issues with it provided you don’t use features the router was not built for (my settings are on my signature), and that you reset the router entirely while flashing.

I’ve not had iOS or Mac issues in a long while either, but then again I do networking for a living, I may not be trying anything wild or outside the hardware specs.

I’m using the latest May 9 2021 build.

It is a sticky in the Advanced Networking Forum:
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=327398

There are settings to make things backwards compatible but I know from the OpenVPN maintainers that there is one VPN provider that has its own implementation of cipher negotiation which is not compatible (they do not tell us which one so maybe that is yours?)

What is your provider?

went again in contact with my vpn provider (IVPN) to ask when they are ready with openvpn 2.5. This time another supporter told me that they are already using openvpn2.5, so I will upgrade now to the 9. May Version to see how it goes (Downloaded the SetupGuide)...

Thx both for the information!

Newb is very confused, here. Use the database, DONT use the database, use build 46069 (which isnt even listed as an option in the DB), no, use the latest etc etc

How do I sift through this? I have used DD-WRT before in some older WRT54 routers which Im still using, so Im not totally unwashed. But yall are very confusing to sort out what is the correct .bin to use!

NO ONE in the forum is going to tell you to use the database, and the forum is where current dd-wrt thinking is. Other sources - the wiki, basic dd-wrt articles elsewhere on the website, dd-wrt articles on the internet -- are all old and not to be counted on. Too much stuff on the internet, including stuff on the dd-wrt site, is undated even though it becomes obsolete before long. You have to remember that dd-wrt is pretty old but is still very actively developing, so older advice can be really inappropriate now.

So again, COMPLETELY IGNORE THE DATABASE. It can't help you. What can help you is reading the new-build threads in the Marvell forum looking for a build that is mostly making owners of your model router happy. Normally there are many such builds, but in recent months we've struggled (due to issues in closed-source Linksys wifi drivers, as far as anyone can tell). So picking a build is harder now.

OK, so I am going to venture out onto the ice and hope its thick enough to hold me.

I have a quite new WRT3200ACM.

Since I am not to use the DB, where do I DL the correct latest RELIABLE version to be flashed?

Apologies if I am being dense here.

If you look in the Marvell forum area, there's "New Build" posts. Otherwise, keep an eye on this link:

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/

Current release is 46640 as of this post.
