Router Model / Version: Dlink DIR-882 A1
File: dlink-dir882-a1-webflash.bin
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r46446 std (04/24/21)
Previous: DD-WRT v3.0-r46442 std (04/23/21)
Mode: AP
Uptime: ~ few hours
Status: working
Services: Openvpn client, DLNA, SAMBA, PPPOE
Issues / Errors: None, samba issue fixed.

I had to stop and start again MiniDLNA top make it work after flashing, even after a reboot.

EDIT: i spoke too fast ! I had again the samba issue after activating MiniDLNA. It seems that the issue didn't happen because MiniDLNA was inactive ! i'll try to disable it and make the experience again to see if it was causing the issue from the start !

EDIT 2: After disabling MiniDLNA, no more samba crash or ressources usage going to 100%, my conclusion is that it's probably MiniDLNA fault on my setting ! (MiniDLNA was updated multiple times recently, so not sure which version is to blame).

I'll try to disable "Cyclic Rescan of Folders" setting of MiniDLNA and see if it caused the issue.

Hi everyone,

After some further testing, i confirmed that new MiniDLNA is quite ressource-intensive. I enabled it while disabling "Cyclic Rescan of Folders" to prevent it from accessing NAS while i was manipulating hundreds of audio file on NAS (also cleaned minidlna database). The result was positive as there was no load increasig until 100% CPU.

However, as soon as i refreshed "http://192.168.1.1:8200/" page, i noticed load increasing rapidly. I tried then to just watch a movie stored on NAS with VLC on my phone, using DLNA protocol, and load growed to about 20%. I'm quite sure that if i tried at the same time accessing audio files on NAS, CPU usage would reach 100% as usual, resulting in samba stop responding.

My guess is that it's not a "samba-alone" issue.

Any help would be appreciated

EDIT: happened again during simple file transfer with nas, no miniDLNA, no nothing. Issue seems to appear randomly, I have no clue i'm affraid.

Router Model / Version: Netgear WAC124
File: /dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2021/04-24-2021-r46446/netgear-wac124/factory-to-ddwrt.img
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r46446 std (04/24/21)
Previous: stock firmware version 1.0.4.6 (when updating it is taken as an old firmware, ignore and continue)
Mode: AP
Uptime: 1 day
Status: wifi ac working
Services used: SNMP, dnsmasq (don't need more now)
Issues / Errors: None for now.

Tnx to dd-wrt team, my router is unlocked now Very Happy

EDIT:
Uptime: 18 days
Issue found: sometimes before several hours working (one day or so), the router present high loads around 2.X, then slows down, freeze, and stop working in some cases.

Using telnet and top, it shows:

Searching around, some people blame package processing options like QoS, analyzing the configuration settings, I found enabled the option Shortcut Forwarding Engine in the setup tab under Optional Settings.

After disable this option, the problem seems to be solved. I make this change 4 days back, and the average load is on 0.X

5G download speed @ 357 Mbps is 35% lower than measured with proprietary driver (release 46315M) in exact same conditions and settings.

Conversely, upload speed @ 413 Mbps is 25% higher than the proprietary driver.

How can this significantly different behaviour be explained?

Update: After just over one day's worth of uptime and during a video called over a wired connection, the
router stalled for about a minute and then resumed.

I checked the logs after the fact and the following seems to have happened:

How can this significantly different behaviour be explained?

I'm also experiencing 5Ghz slow issues.

You don't use DHCP forwarder in AP or switch modes:
