Hey everyone Smile Hope you're all doing OK.

So I've recently bought two of the ASUS RT-AC1900P routers, hoping to flash them both to DD-WRT.

The newest ASUS stock firmware didn't let me flash to DD-WRT which is OK, I already know the solution to that problem is to go back to the older firmware.

The bigger issue comes when I try to go from stock to DD-WRT.

I've tried both the newest 44715 and oldest 36247 builds downloadable from the DD-WRT Router Database.

I've tried flashing directly from GUI.
I've tried flashing from CFE server webpage.
I've tried flashing using ASUS Firmware Restoration Utility.

In all cases, it seems to have 'succeeded' and then during the reboot, I get a reboot loop.

I've been able to successfully revert back to stock using the the firmware restoration utility to try again but I've just been able to flash to DD-WRT successfully. It never reaches the 'change password' page.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

I bought these routers on eBay in Australia but I'm pretty sure the seller sourced these from the chinese market because it came with a firmware called 'Koolshare'.

Is there something different about these particular AC1900Ps that I don't know about?

Label on the back doesn't indicate anything special about it either.

What I've noticed is that these routers default to 192.168.50.1 instead of 192.168.1.1

Could this be any indication that there's something incompatible with DD-WRT?

I hope this is an actual RT-AC1900P and not something else as I just updated the Supported Devices Wiki:

https://forum.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices#Asus

https://wikidevi.wi-cat.ru/ASUS_RT-AC1900P

Also, initial support was in r33215:

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2017/08-25-2017-r33215/asus-rt-ac1900p/

It shouldn't make any difference, unless the file you are trying to flash are too big.

Also, the current release is r46604:

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2021/05-09-2021-r46604/asus-rt-ac1900p/

CFE mini web server has been known to work flashing this device.

Found this post elsewhere that makes me scratch my head a little here:

I have 5 of the modded TM-AC1900 units.. I can flash them to stock or to ddwrt back and forth all day without issue from the CFE Webserver. I'm thinking that since they changed the default address, your unit must have a newer CFE than the older units, and may not allow flashing firmware other than stock (or Merlin, which I'd look into if I were you)

ASUS made changes and started really locking down their hardware in the past two years to prevent third-party firmware being loaded...

Since ddwrt will most likely not work for you, look into the Asuswrt-Merlin variant for your 1900p.

@MysticGold04: The OP is about the RT-AC1900P, not the TM-AC1900, AFAIK.

@strwbrrysam: please clarify which device is in fact what you are referring to so I can fix any wiki discrepancies when I get time. Thanks.

@kernel-panic69 Yes, I'm aware his unit is different that mine, but has similar hardware inside. (Newer hardware rev, etc.) I was just sharing my experience, and sharing my thoughts about the updated CFE.
