Hello
I want to change my old router with new one supporting also DD-WRT.
Which router supporting AX wifi and DD-WRT is available, I made some seach but I didn't find anything, maybe new chipset are not supported by firmware ?
Any of these routers are better than modern Linksys WRT series with Marvell hardware.
If you need additional CPU resources, then yes R9000. Keep in mind R7800 is the most recommended.
thank you, I will make my choice between this 2 netgear routers.

I just picked up yet another (my third) EA8500 on ebay for $37. The bonus, it also included two RE7000 repeaters. Great router for a very cheap price. But not usual. Normally these routers go for $55-$75. It's a little bit more of a task to get dd-wrt on it the first time, but well worth the minor extra bits. I bid on three Netgear R7800s too, but all three went for $100+. They are very popular, therefore driving the price up. _________________ Linksys EA8500 (Internet Gateway, AP/VAP) - DD-WRT r53562
Features in use: WDS-AP, Multiple VLANs, Samba, WireGuard, Entware: mqtt, mlocate
Wireless 5ghz only
Netgear R7800 (WDS-AP, WAP, VAP) - DD-WRT r55779
Features in use: multiple VLANs over single trunk port
Linksys EA8500 WDS Station x2 - DD-WRT r55799
Netgear R6400v2 WAP, VAP 2.4ghz only w/VLANs over single trunk port. DD-WRT r55779
OSes: Fedora 38, 9 RPis (2,3,4,5), 20 ESP8266s: Straight from Amiga to Linux in '94, never having owned a Windows PC.
Cheaper older used alternatives are R7500v2 or EA8500.
Cheaper alternative I would clearly prefer D-Link DIR-882. Got one for under $100 not long ago.
Otherwise, Netgear R7800 (generally around $200) is the current standard for DD-WRT and what is currently being sold in the DD-WRT shop preinstalled.
Although I would like to see a Wifi AX compatible router supported by DD-WRT reaching the almost technical 2Gbps with all antennas (my AC only reaches the 600Mbps at best). Although as I've seen in test not even AD can reach the 1Gbps with R9000, so I highly doubt any current advertised AX can reach more than 1 Gbps either although
I've read that Archer AX600, Rapture AX11000 and Netgear Nighthawk AX12 can go over 1,2Gbps
Can't DD-WRT support AX12 based on Qualcomm IPQ8074? Not open sourced this chipset for the kernel?
