Hi

Which is the safest way to upgrade from

Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r39960M kongac (06/08/19)

to the latest DD-WRT on a R8000

I've done it on a R7000 with a web-upload without reset.

After a reboot the R7000 was not reachable and I did a
30/30/30.

After that the R7000 came up with the expected IP and did
not loose it's configuration.

Will the R8000 react the same?

The R8000 has a little bit more configration (Routing + VPN)
and I would like to save that Smile
Regards.

I don't know what you did wrong, but I have never had issues webflash upgrading from <Kong> to Official DD-WRT builds without reset. I presume impatience was a key factor, and FYI, you do *NOT* do a 30/30/30 on anything but Broadcom MIPS routers (Mainly WRT54* and it's clones).

I have done the same on R7000 and R6300v2 from an older Kong build and it went fine. After upgrade, disconnect power and wait 20 seconds then connect power again. Take a backup in case things didn’t go fine and want to restore to Kong version and restore config.

I'm hoping you are still getting updates from this as I need to up my 6300v2 to the most recent from: DD-WRT v3.0-r35030M kongac (02/19/18).
I'd like - obviously - to make this as easy on me (the wife's ill) and use the upgrade util from within the webgui. The file I'm going to use is netgear-r6300v2-webflash.bin file.
Any precautions?
