You have to update from 40559 via CLI using PuTTY (telnet/ssh):

cd /tmp
wget http://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2020/11-03-2020-r44715/tplink_tl-wr1043nd/tl-wr1043nd-webflash.bin
write tl-wr1043nd-webflash.bin linux &
reboot
40559 was still broken for webUI upgrades on Atheros, if memory serves.
You should consider updating to the current release:
Sorry, I tried everything and the response I get is "Image too big for partition linux" are there any other options?

Did you flash it straight to 40559 from factory? Because I checked 40559, 44715 and 45955 and all the images are the same size... so, something is awry here. Well, I don't recall all the history on firmware upgrade.
I believe I should use update through COM port (or serial). I'll have to dissasemble my router and etc, but that is ok.

I am using DD-WRT for more than 3 years and this is my first forum posting. It is very pleasant to have such brief responses. Even if I'll brick the router I'll continue to use DD-WRT
