Same issue as previous builds - 2.4GHz clients won't connect unless TurboQAM (QAM256) support is disabled regardless of firmwware type selected (Vanilla or DD-WRT).
TurboQAM is proprietary for Broadcom.
Doesn't work with Atheros.
its supported across all ac+ radios, its just broken on qca9980 in ea8500 (qca9984 in r7800 etc it works). nitroQAM (1024qam) is the broadcom proprietary one _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)

Started tinkering with the settings and found disabling TurboQAM appears to have fixed the issue (worked fine with it enabled on builds 02-06-2021-r45690 or earlier).
But, but, I read it on the Internet so it must be true........

Broadcom's TurboQAM® technology implements the highest data-rate 256-QAM mode in 2.4 GHz and enables up to 33 percent faster throughputs than 802.11n speeds when communicating with other 5G WiFi devices
ARCHER-C7 v2
UPGrade via web UI
no reset
Previous r45993
firmware - Vanilla on 5GHz
Services - WDS STA , STP,NTP
Errors - Is the Disassociate low ack setting missing from the 5GHz Radio? Otherwise running well
For my understanding, this is not a station/client setting.
Should only be displayed in AP modes.
BS didn't want to add the option for VAP's though, unfortunately.
in 2.4Ghz (802.11n) networks there is by definition only max QAM64
in 5Ghz (802.11ac) networks QAM256 is also supported.
Broadcom was the first manufacturer to support QAM256 "out of spec" in 2.4Ghz networks.
But it also works perfectly with Atheros chipsets.
My Pixel 3 (WCN3990), for example, connects at 20Mhz with a bitrate of 173-192Mbit, which is certainly QAM256 according to the MCS index.
Code:
tx bitrate: 192.2 MBit/s VHT-MCS 9 short GI VHT-NSS 2
and the rest (Turbo / Nitro / Plutonium) is just pure marketing talk.
the same also applies to "NitroQAM"
QAM1024 is actually intended for Wifi6 (802.11ax) for the time being.
However, Broadcom also promotes 802.11ac products with it.
So if there's one thing they're good at, it's violating specifications and introducing great marketing terms.
