Please list router model & revision, operating & wireless mode(s) and exact filename/firmware image flashed.

Downloads: (DD-WRT website) HTTPS & FTP (try another if a link does not work)

CLI Flash: 'cd /tmp' then 'wget {file URL}' (or 'curl -k {file URL} -o {file}') with http (not https) or ftp. Then 'write {file} linux'.

Repository: Trac SVN changelog since last build r45729 (GitHub mirror)

Notes:
OpenVPN version 2.5.0 and Guides
WireGuard 1.0.20200908/Tools: Guides, PBR, Kill Switch, Inbound Firewall, Naming of Peers, Status, Key. Thanks BS & egc!
• CVE-2019-14899 VPN fix (applicability depends on VPN setup) and GUI toggle since r41813.
Experimental build option for Broadcom 8MB+ K2.x devices (limited currently): broadcom_K3X_mipsel32r1
• Broadcom MIPS devices are now on kernel 4.4.
• Dnsmasq version 2.84 released with r45632 (2.83 at r45563, prerelease since r45036).
In-kernel Samba (ksmbd 3.3.4+): default min/max versions changed, WSD support, ANTFS and NTFS3 kernel mode drivers.

Issues, observations, and/or workarounds reported:
DNScrypt 1.95 can still be used in the GUI, but v2 (not compatible) requires Golang and thus Entware. #6246
WDS does not work on Broadcom ARM devices (only MIPS<->MIPS) & bridge modes on k4.4 devices may sometimes work
in some configurations for certain builds but are not supported by the bcmdhd driver. Use client or repeater instead.
VAPs not working at boot fixed for unbridged VAPs in 40562 - 40566. Effective startup commands discussion thread is here.
If start-up scripts do not work from USB add a delay, e.g. wait script or 'sleep 25'.
Broadcom ARM devices missing 5GHz channels, via Telnet/SSH: 'nvram set brcm_unlock=1' 'nvram commit' 'nvram reboot'

Important:
• For issues provide applicable info: 'dmesg', 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages', syslog, klog, serial, strace, tcpdump, wireshark etc.
• Any firewall NAT or WAN issues, show output: 'iptables -vnL', 'iptables -t nat -vnL', 'iptables -t mangle -vnL' and /tmp/.ipt file.
• Search SVN tickets & discuss in forum before opening. Before reporting: reset & manually set up, not restore from a backup.
• Please include operating & wireless modes (e.g. Gateway, Router, AP, CB, WDS, Mesh) & relevant configuration information.

Example Template:
Code:
[b]Router/Version: [/b]
[b]File/Kernel: [/b]
[b]Previous/Reset: [/b]
[b]Mode/Status: [/b]

Same problem as explained in build r45711. Reverted back to build r45592

Extract from build r45711
My diagnosis of the NAS problem: the file sharing path is /mnt; there should also be this path which is in the older builds, /mnt/sda1; I believe it originates from /tmp/mnt/sda1 but I can be wrong. I do not know how to point the path to /mnt/sda1.

Once you upgrade with no reset the message you get from NAS file sharing path:mnt/sda1(unavailable)

Also when you click on the share folder on the network from internet explorer in Windows 7 you get three (3) subfolders, sda1, sda5 and sda6; all empty. I believe they all originate from the Driver manager from /dev/sda1, /dev/sda5 and /dev/sda6

How many more upgrades before this is corrected. Nas is not working.

@Abboo the path you should mount a partition is indeed /mnt/sdax (or /mt/sdbx if you have also a second USB port) or even /opt or /jffs if you named the partititions like that and enable automatic drive mount

If you do not have it consider should reviewing your settings and/or reformatting the drive again, I have no problems with my R6400.

Are you using an ntfs partition?

I am using ntfs partition.
Automatic drive mount is always enabled in usb.
My nas problem arose after build 45592 and they all say the same thing: /mnt/sda1(unavailable)
I performed a reset and manually rekeyed all data until I got to nas to discover the required path is not there and I cannot key in the path
Even though you are enjoying success with your router and nas, I have netgear r8000 with experimental drivers, I do not know if that can be a factor

I think experimental refers to the wireless drivers.

What changed is the ntfs driver.

Of course it is possible that in your particular router something goes wrong in building/compiling.
You can check if in /lib/modules/(xxx.xx.xx) ntfs.ko is present.

The router should check what format is present on the usb stick and then load the necessary kernel module.

If the router does not know the format it can not load the module.

Things to try:
insmod ntfs.ko manually
Reformat the usb drive, I use minitool partition wizard or gparted.

Question:
Is this a non default drive, i.e. more than one partition, or very large etc. ?

The size of my partition:
-- /dev/sda1
Block device, size 1.818 TiB (1999321956352 bytes)
Windows BOOTMGR boot loader
NTFS file system
UUID 01D4DDF8D599C780
Volume size 1.818 TiB (1999321952256 bytes, 3904925688 sectors)
/dev/sda1 mounted to /tmp/mnt/sda1

The above information was copied from build 445592

I also have /opt and /jffs

As to checking if in /lib/modules/(xxx.xx.xx) ntfs.ko is present and
insmod ntfs.ko manually
How to do these? I am a novice trying to learn a thing or two.
I initially formatted by usb drive using minitool partition wizard

Firmware:45729
Router: Netgear R8500

I have been having drive issues as well for a few builds now. I tried the firmware listed in abboo listed 45592 and I still have the issue. I will need to go farther back to see where this issue started.

I was able to find /lib/modules/(xxx.xx.xx) ntfs3.ko in the build 45735 having loaded it.
As to insmod ntfs.ko manually, I do not understand it. As in build r45592, it says in the usb section: /dev/sda1 mounted to /tmp/mnt/sda1
But in the NAS section it says: /mnt/sda1(unavailable)

Well you could always file a bug report in the bug tracker: https://svn.dd-wrt.com

It maybe has something to do with the size of the drive or the way this drive is partitioned (but of course it should not be)

Or, it could be, as I have hesitated to say for at least a week, if not two, that it's a problem with using *gasp* Win7 still.
