Hello to everyone.

Please help.

My Linksys EA8500 has:

DD-WRT v3.0-r42078 std (01/23/20) - this firmware.

Should i upgrade firmware to the newest version?

DD-WRT v3.0-r42078 std (01/23/20) - this works good.

But one year past maybe i should upgrade?

Thanks.

Sorry for stupid questions.Topic for EA8500 was closed. I am not sure do i need to create separate topic? (Sorry please) i will delete my post if i was wrong.

I went from 'r44786' to the latest couple of builds without a problem.
r45632 seems fine for me --- Uptime 16:27
I use NG-Mixed, Wide HT40 on 2.4
AC/N-Mixed, VHT80 on 5GHz
Guest VAPs on both and I don't have any problems at all.

If I was you I would go from r42078 (that old of build) to r44786 and see if all is ok and then update to newest if that is what you want to do.
It will most likely depend on what all wireless clients you have.
I have NO Apple devices connected directly to the EA8500 also NO IOT devices at all anywheres.
Can't tell you what to do .....only make suggestions.

You can also go direcly to latest but may/maynot have to do a reset & reconfig.
Lots of things have changed Twisted Evil

11/03/2020 - r44715 <-- Previous wifi binary & fallback until issues resolved (r44786 is stable alpha, same wifi fw).

01/31/2021 - r45632 <-- Latest & greatest as of writing with security updates, but may need to use "Mixed" mode.

If upgrading firmware via Web GUI, keep the dropdown option selected "Don't reset" as you should do this later.

After successful upgrade and full reboot, hardware reset (hold reset button 10 seconds) and again allow full reboot.

Or, nvram erase && reboot from Telnet as root. Reconfigure manually from scratch, do not restore from a backup.

Yes "After flashing, reset to" dropdown option is exactly what I am talking about.
