Hi there,

I use various Routers and VPNs. Currently I have PIA VPN working well on a Netgear R7000 with DD-WRT Open-VPN.

However I can not get Pure-VPN to work on a variety on Routers. Currently I try it on a Netgear R6250.
The Open-VPN Status is basically completely empty besides this:

I read many guides and also posts on this Forum about Pure-VPN Setup. I followed them but still no success.
If anyone can look over my Configuration and figure put what is wrong, that would be much appreciated.

I added the Pictures also as attachments, since I am not sure if they work in this post. I have a dedicated IP from
Pure-VPN - thats why the server us-ded.... needs to be set this way and the IP adress is my static IP.

Looking forward to your comments/suggestions.

Greetings

Some quick things to try (I have not seen what Pure-VPN advises but this is not the best provider):

First data cipher the same as encryption cipher
Second data cipher: AES-128-GCM
Third data cipher: AES-256-GCM

IP address leave blank (this might be the main culprit)

Reboot the router

Do you really need username/Password and Public Client Cert/Private Client Key and TLS Auth Key ?

If the Status is blank it usually is a major configuration problem like problems with the certs/keys

According to their Web-Guides - and all people who had success these Certificates are all necessary.

https://support.purevpn.com/how-can-i-configure-openvpn-on-my-dd-wrt-router?_ga=2.85080093.541711472.1610639917-834913457.1605347242&_gac=1.250041716.1610639919.Cj0KCQiA9P__BRC0ARIsAEZ6iriBGecp83repekqSnvYDJ5ER2IABL_f7tnxWQ9-ircs6piLUUmXM7kaAvnBEALw_wcB
Not sure if you can access this without being logged in but this is their guide on how to set it up.

There was also this threat https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=325112 here.

I changed the ciphers and took out the IP Address. Did not change anything. I also tried different servers. Still no luck.

If the status page is still blank it is a major configuration error which might be a problem with your keys/certs.

when i configured purevpn for a friend i only used tls key and CA cert no public cert
don't use your email address as user it must be something like: purevpn0sxxxxxxx
do as egc has suggested above and that should connect.
Just remember they use sh*t ports like 53 and 80 and you may have issues using them with your isp, ask if they have any other tcp or udp ovpn ports available.

Ok, the hint to remove the public Cert helped a little.
Now the Status has a little more info. It is still not connected to the VPN however.

Also in a second try I added my Dedicated IP again in the IP Address Field. Now the Status Page has a longer Log.

Does this help anyone to narrow down the problem further?

EDIT:
Sorry had to remove the Images, I put them on a wrong Drive.
But in the Meantime I realized that I should have used Port80 and TCP. After changing that I got this Status:

I am not sure what you mean by dedicated IP and where you are setting that but I would just try to follow the PureVPN instructions (nowhere do they say anything about using Public cert/Private key)

But you should enable NAT though

It is up to Pure VPN to give you support that is what you are paying for

Hello. I just configured a purevpn connection in my EA8500 with ddwrt. To be honest their directions are really dated, so the way I got it working was combining purevpn directions with expressvpn

https://support.purevpn.com/how-can-i-configure-openvpn-on-my-dd-wrt-router

https://www.expressvpn.com/support/vpn-setup/manual-config-for-dd-wrt-router-with-openvpn/

Using both I was able to make it work. From purevpn you need to download the files "For OVPN Version 2.0" for ddwrt and that file will give you practically everything you need. By the way I used UDP connection, probably TCP would have worked the same. Let me know in case you need further help or information, although I barely made it work.

Simply go to PureVPN support blog and search your desired query. I sure you get a better answer from there and after that you still have a query then contact on live chat. They will give you instant reply with an appropriate answer.

Well I wouldn't be that sure. I wasn't able to find real instructions to configure purevpn on their support blog and I did contact their live chat and the guy didn't know what he was talking about, at the he just told me if I could connect during the Hong Kong shift, because there they may be able to help me better. I did asked him if he wasn't part of the support team and just got a yes but please come back during our Hong Kong time. so not as simple as it should be.
