I just moved my ISP from Comcast to Sonic FTTN. I simply moved the WAN cable from my old cable router to the new ONT, rebooted and everything seemed to work fine.
However, my connection interrupts frequently and I have to reboot my router several times a week (vs pretty much never, before) to restore my internet access.
I've seen something about DHCP renewal responses causing issues, but there didn't seem to be a consensus solution. Does anyone have setting suggestions?
Thanks; I'll repost with more info. My hope with this light post was that someone who uses this ISP (very popular in the SF Bay Area right now) will have experienced this and know the setting.
Which is the best forum? I don't feel like this is a hardware-specific issue.
Now that I'm in the right forum...
I don't know that it's relevant, but my hardware is a Netgear R7000 running r33675m (old, and should be upgraded, but I'd rather not change that right now since the router was working perfectly before I switched the ISP upstream).
Fairly frequently a client will notice the internet connection is frozen for a brief period. Sometimes (about 1/day) this is only resolved by rebooting the router.
I've found some discussion that this might be the router not responding properly to frequent DHCP renewals by the ISP
Discussion here, but it's 9 years old and pre-dates the ftth connection I'm using.

The summary of the recommendation is adjusting SPI firewall rules and/or disabling it completely along with disabling the DMZ.
