Please list router model & revision, operating & wireless mode(s) and exact filename/firmware image flashed.
Notes:
• CVE-2019-14899 VPN fix (applicability depends on VPN setup) and GUI toggle. 6920, 6928, 6931, 6932 (WIP 7040)
• In-kernel Samba has been implemented this year and default min/max versions have changed 6954, 6957, with WSD support.
• VAP issue is fixed! For any Wireless Mode, create a VAP and both ath0/ath1 should now function properly.
• Local DNS option removed from Services->DNSMasq in changesets 43080 and 43081; ref: #7092
• DHCP and DNS help (English) updated in 43083; ref: #7091
• WireGuard 1.0.20200908 & Tools: PBR, Kill Switch, Inbound Firewall, Naming of Peers, Status, Key, Guides. Thanks BS & egc!
• OpenVPN Version 2.5.0
Issues:
• There may be remaining issues for Samba (for example NTFS), with frequent updates.
Important:
• If reporting issues provide applicable info: 'dmesg', 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages', syslog, serial output, strace, tcpdump etc.
• For firewall NAT or WAN issues provide 'iptables -vnL', 'iptables -t nat -vnL', 'iptables -t mangle -vnL' and the /tmp/.ipt file.
• Search existing SVN tickets before opening a new one. Before reporting, reset and manually setup (no nvram backup).
• Be sure to include operating and wireless modes (Gateway, AP, CB, etc.) along with relevant configuration information.

Previous/Reset: DD-WRT v3.0-r45036 std (12/18/20),
Linux 4.9.248 #932 SMP Fri Dec 18 01:29:43 +07 2020 armv7l
Mode/Status: Gateway / AP Issues/Errors:
Dec 21 17:29:06 PANDA-WRT-1 daemon.err dnsmasq[3643]: failed to send packet: Address family not supported by protocol
Dec 21 17:29:12 PANDA-WRT-1 daemon.err dnsmasq[3643]: failed to send packet: Network unreachable
These message started with r45036, not sure where to start looking. I flashed back a few versions (r44863) and reset from scratch because of the ath0/wlan0 changes and messages do not appear. But other than the logs filling up I have had no issues with performance (that I know of) with last two builds.
Other issue (it has been many previous builds) which not sure why, but when I try to copy a directory or multiple files from PC to USB attached hard drive on router they will not copy. If I select one file at a time and copy no issues. No errors showing in logs or from PC (Win10) it just seems to complete instantly and nothing shows up on USB drive. Annoying, but once I put anything on USB drive is does stream correctly to other connected devices. I just pull USB drive from router and connect directly to PC to copy the files over no problem.
Thanks BS, team, and Forum support for your great builds and help! _________________ Router/Version: Netgear R7800

GUI install over r45036
On the r45xxx builds, I'm finding that photos load slower in Firefox.
If I go back to r44786, the wifi signal on my Acer laptop is much weaker.
For me, r44980 seems to be the sweet spot. _________________ ------------------------------------

I think the RSSI issue is heavily influenced if it's 9980 or 9984 series.
For 9984 series routers (R7800 & R9000 mostly) the signal should be better on builds >=44980.
For 9980 series there are a few revisions of this chip, afaik, and it seems the C7v2-v4 have issues. I didn't notice any issues on the C7v5/A7v5 series for Rssi.
I haven't paid attention to the EA8500 to know for sure. _________________ FORUM RULES

Private network on bridge br0 = eth1 (vlan 1) + wlan0 + wlan1.
Guest network on bridge br1 = eth1.4 (vlan 4) + VAPs (wlan0.1 + wlan1.1) for IOT devices
(Roku's, Amazon Echos, smart switches, etc.) and guest.
Noob still finding my way.
swconfig dev switch0 set enable_vlan 1
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 1 set ports "1 2 6"
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 4 set ports "3 4 6t"
swconfig dev switch0 set apply
vconfig add eth1 4
brctl addif br1 eth1.4
ifconfig eth1.4 up
