Model: Archer C9 V.3 EU

I downloaded the newest beta firmware from dd-wrt:
1) archer-c9v3-webflash.bin 24-Nov-2020 13:55
2) factory-to-ddwrt.bin

Log in (192.168.0.1) -> System -> Firmware

I then chose 'factory-to-ddwrt.bin', everything seemed to work. It loaded, and then router rebooted by itself.

Now my LAN doesn't work, no internet. I get a SSID on my wifi that says "dd-wrt". But when I connect, I still get no internet. I have no way to connect to dd-wrt homepage and install the newest c9v3-webflash.bin.

Is my router completely bricked? Or is there some possible chance to restore it?

I have tried a factory reset but nothing changes.
Thought things would be simplier than this.. Biggest mistake, even tho this was my spare router.
Please help!

Logging into 192.168.0.1 does nothing, page won't load. I even tried 192.168.1.1.

Maybe something here can help you get it recovered and working again.

Sadly hasn't helped.
TFTP recovery from stock firmware didn't help either, after restart nothing changed.

Gonna try the C9-V3-Fix-R5 fix tomorrow from https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1116019#1116019

The v3 (and v4?) has a recovery mode built into the CFE. You shouldn't have to TFTP, it has a web page recovery. Before you go too far into it via serial, post a serial boot log of what is going on currently to see if there is an issue in the firmware image you loaded on it. This will help the developer.

I have tried CFE/webpage recovery, but can't access 192.168.0.1 even after changing the static ip as they shown. Tried with Chrome/Edge/Explorer just keeps loading until it times out. Whatever factory-to-ddwrt.bin did must've overwritten something.

Seems I have no other choice of going via serial. If I have understood things correctly.

1) Set static 192.168.0.66 / 255.255.255.0
2) Solder TX/RX/GND wire onto the pcb
3) Connect USB-TX <-> PCB-RX, and USB-RX <-> PCB-TX, USB-GND <-> PCB-GND
3) Open Putty -> Serial -> Set baudrate 115200, databits 8, stop bits 1, parity none, flow control none.
4) Connect via COMXX, (press ctrl-c until it's finished?)

You want me to copy-paste the booting sequence/log that will show on putty here, before I try and do the C9-V3-Fix-R5.bin recovery?

Alright now I'm making some progress, can at least connect via serial. I'm not sure what you are after, so I attached a .txt file with everything down below.

Any thoughts? Is there something that can be done?

I might've solved part of the problem, I never tried Firefox before only Chrome/IE/Edge.

Now I can enter 192.168.1.1 and enter the web-ui.
Now I'm just gonna get the web-flash.bin file next, and see if I can get Eterhnet (wlan) working.

Did you use Firefox 83.0 or ESR 78.5.0? I use Pale Moon, Waterfox (Current 78 or Classic 56), Firefox ESR 78.

I ask because sometimes a release channel version is not as reliable for certain tasks like firmware upgrade.

Router is fixed! Problem was always using IE/Chrome/Explorer.
After I now upgraded web-flash.bin my wlan is working properly.

Speedtest.net shows pretty good results. I get about 90/92 from my 100/100Mbps.

I can confirm that beta firmware for my archer-c9-v3 24-Nov-2020 13:55 is currently working.

Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r40559 std (08/06/19)
which was the on suggested on the dd wrt wiki

but i wish to move to more recent build to get security fix and other Twisted Evil good stuff since then

is the Archer-c9-v3 24-Nov-2020 13:55 - safe and good ? other version recommended ?
