Dlink-DIR885L 5 GHz/802.11ac radio keeps resetting

I run DD-WRT v3.0-r44538 std (10/13/20) on a Dlink-DIR885L, running the Broadcom BCM4709 CPU.

The 5 Ghz radio (wl1) keeps giving me problems. These are the logs. Entries like this keep popping up at least every minute, until the radio resets resulting in a odd minute of wireless downtime.

In all honesty, this router was giving me problems before I flashed it with dd-wrt, so I suspect it already had issues with the 5 GHz radio. But the logging of the Dlink OEM firmware isn't good enough to do any forensics. (That was *one* of the reasons to make the switch to dd-wrt)

But I can't make heads or tails of the logs above, so if anyone could share his/her thoughts on them, I would appreciate it.

Is it possible the wifi chips are overheating?
when's the last time you blew out the router?

I don't know if the router has temp sensors that show up in dd-wrt, but if it does, what's their temperature?

otherwise, it may be time to start from scratch and reset back to facotry settings using the reset button.

Do not restore a backup file...start from scratch. Might be a bad nvram setting causing gremlins.

I replaced all the heatsinks already with better ones. And put a generous amount of thermal paste on it. The router is clean.

These are the temps if I let both run for a while

Temperatures CPU 73.6 °C / WL0 51.7 °C / WL1 58.7 °C

The load average is completely through the roof if I have my WL1 enabled.

Load Average 3.10, 1.42, 0.55 100%

Mind you, WL1 is configured with an SSID that no one knows or uses. There are no clients trying to connect with WL1.

Resetting to factory settings had no effect.
