In-kernel Samba has been implemented this year and default min/max versions have changed 6954, 6957, with WSD support.
• VAP issue is fixed! For any Wireless Mode, create a VAP and both ath0/ath1 should now function properly.
• Local DNS option removed from Services->DNSMasq in changesets 43080 and 43081; ref: #7092
• DHCP and DNS help (English) updated in 43083; ref: #7091

Issues:
• There may be remaining issues for Samba (for example NTFS), with frequent updates.

Important:
• If reporting issues provide applicable info: 'dmesg', 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages', syslog, serial output, strace, tcpdump etc.
• For firewall NAT or WAN issues provide 'iptables -vnL', 'iptables -t nat -vnL', 'iptables -t mangle -vnL' and the /tmp/.ipt file.
• Search existing SVN tickets before opening a new one. Before reporting, reset and manually setup (no nvram backup).
• Be sure to include operating and wireless modes (Gateway, AP, CB, etc.) along with relevant configuration information.

Upgraded WRT1200AC v1's from r44483 to r44538 using Brave Version 1.10.97 (64-bit) running on Linux Mint 20 OS.

Successful update and reboot. No reset, nothing disabled prior to update, uptime aproximatly 17 hrs, wired/wireless connected, vpn up immediately (Expressvpn). I do not use NAS. SFE is always disabled. OpenVPN client/DNSMasq, QoS with PIE always enabled.

Kernel Version Linux 4.9.238 #2144 SMP Tue Oct 13 00:40:20 +03 2020 armv7l

Wirelessly streamed 2-3 hours with multiple divices last night with no issues. No difference detected between this release and the last on my setup.

Bit the bullet and tried it out r44048 -> r44538 no reset.

Both 3200's up and running no problems so far.

1200 V1 also no problems so far.

1900 V1 with 5Ghz only and as WDS Station also good.

1900 V1 as WDS Station with 2.4Ghz active numerous problems, reverted to r44048.

First problem noted was on 1200 & 1900 where some Android devices would not connect until I switched from N/G mode to Mixed. Once on Mixed everything would connect properly.

Second problem was the remote 1900 in WDS Station mode. Would not connect to network. Switching partitions without any changes back to r44048 immediately connected. Also trying to connect via the 2.4Ghz on this router was extremely slow gui. When viewing the status the connections to all the 2.4Ghz devices were there but all showed xmit of 1.
It appears that this build works well if the 1900 is only using 5Ghz but with the 2.4Ghz active it's a complete wash particularly at long distance.

Will continue to monitor as I have had problems with other recent release when running multiple 5Ghz WDS AP's.

I've been down this path so many times. Thanks for the suggestion though. As point of interest I setup the remote 1900 in close proximity to my AP's and all connected properly. As soon as I tried to connect from about 500' away no connection was possible on the 5Ghz and the 2.4Ghz was extremely poor. Although access via the 2.4Ghz to this router was tricky I managed to switch the boot part and reboot to r44048. Everything came up properly and has been running without issue 17 hours. All other routers still on r44538 also without issue.
These issues are specific to the 1900V1 being used as a client or WDS Station over a long distance. The only builds that have been successfully run are r31924 and r44048.

Router: Linksys WRT1900ACSv2
Browser: Opera Stable 71.0 (Windows 10 64-bit)
Reset: Yes, because there was a transition from the firmware r42054.
Status: After 3 hours, Windows customers (LAN) couldn't connect to the SMB resource.
Mode:
Dnsmasq + SmartDNS
5 GHz: AP AC/N-Mixed, Channel 161+Lower, Wide HT40, Allow Channel Overlapping, Short Preamble, Short GI, Single User Beamforming.
2.4 GHz: AP NG-Mixed, Channel 5, Full 20 MHz, TurboQAM (QAM256) support, Short Preamble, Short GI.
Security: WPA2 Personal CCMP-128 (AES)
NAS via USB:
/dev/sda - Block device, size 931.5GiB, Partition: 1-Ext4, 2-Ext4 , 3-swap.
Samba shared: Protocol Version SMB 2.10\SMB 3.11
NFS Server shared: Shared the same partitions as in Samba.
After 10 minutes, the log was made to make mistakes. I had to go back to the firmware r42054 with the Samba stable.

Upgraded from Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r44467 std (09/24/20)

So far so good, that previous build from 9/24/20 was extremely solid for me so this one hopefully is as well.
