I know of someone that uses it, I believe they changed their guide for configuring that connection, so I'd visit their site and how to configure DDWRT.
This sounds like it's a configuration settings issue for it since my bud has zero issues with DDWRT and nordvpn.
That being said, with VPN providers and manually setting things up will get you downtime whenever they do maintenance on their DNS/TLS settings, or just retire servers. It's just the price of doing things this way. _________________ Router: Linksys WRT3200ACM WLAN0 and 1 have same SSID

Not sure what "hangs" means in this context of the VPN.
If you mean it just won't connect, then as previously stated, the server may be down and unavailable (maybe for maintenance, maybe because it's overloaded, etc.). That's why you never want to rely on just *one* server. Better to specify *multiple* servers by using additional remote directives in the Additional Config field. Here's my own w/ ExpressVPN.
test your vpn from your admin control panel with your server and connect with pc to determine if your service is working.if its ok then put config files into your router then do an ip check
But in the past when I check with Nord VPN the server was working which led me to believe the problem is with the router or configuration of the router
