Hi, I just upgraded my iPhone to ios14 and the iPhone tethering has stopped working on my router, does anyone know how to fix this apart from downgrading the iPhone software?
I have the Linksys WRT-1900AC v1 (r44467 24/09/2020)
iPhone 11 Pro 512GB iOS 14.01
iPhone tethers correctly, IPv4 & IPv6 address's both showing in router sys-info however for some reason it will not allow "other devices" to connect to the internet via WiFi &/or Wired.
I was using iOS 13.7 & all the previous firmware(s) & always working 100% perfectly.
If i connect my old iPhone 4S 32GB to the router using tethering mode, the internet works 100% perfectly.
It seems this is an iOS 14 issue & NOT a modem/router or DD-WRT firmware issue.
Have you connected the iPhone 11 Pro 512GB iOS 14.01 to computer(Windows or macOS)? Does it work?
In the beginning, I thought it seems an iOS 14 issue & NOT a modem/router or DD-WRT firmware issue. But I connected my iPhone(iOS14.0/iOS14.0.1) to Windows 10 and macOS Catalina, usb tethering working.

So, I don’t know what’s wrong?
Yes it works fine when I connect directly to a computer or laptop, but I can not get it to work properly on my Linksys WRT1900ac v1
My iPhone 4S 32GB works perfectly fine when I connect to the WRT1900AC, so it’s not a router or router firmware issue.

Probably a Linux driver issue if it works tethering to Win10, MacOS, or a Linux PC. Not sure if any recent kernel updates for the next release will fix it or not. I'm not liking the fact that I may have to put a recently acquired iPhone 8+ that a customer decided not to fix or take back in service because of app features. That is such bullsh*t. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

Apple admitted it's a bug with no workaround, so it's a problem they created and only they can solve.
From searching around people can connect but no traffic is passed through, so I'm guessing new security and privacy features have thrown a wrench or three into the mix.
As an example, a new feature randomizes mac address but disabling this particular one does not solve it.
I was forced to upgrade my iphone 11 to ios 14(.0.1). I can tether fine to my MAC via USB or WIFI hotspot.
However my ASUS AC1900 running DD-WRT v3.0-r31571 std (03/04/17), isn't so lucky. As previously reported by others, the iPhone seems to tether fine, however no data is being passed through it.
I spoke with apple, no help (aside from downgrading to ios 13.7, which of course my company won't allow). They claim it likely due to new privacy protocols.
I'm hoping by now someone here has an update, since I reply on this set up for work. Is there a new build that might work with ios14? A setting in the control panel that can appease the new privacy rules?
I attempted to downgrade, but they somehow managed to block even that.
I spent a good part of the night on the phone with 1st & 2nd level support over at apple. When I tried to convince the, the seriousness of the situation & pleaded for assistance to roll back to iOS13.7, their answer was simply “we didn’t officially support linux tethering before, and it’s not our priority now”.
I’m not interested in bashing apple right now, I just need a solution to get my family back online that doesn’t cost me new infrastructure again. Apple’s only suggestion was “buy a new hotspot” which of course also means a new data plan to go with it 😢. I guess at the moment my only option is to pray.
I am curious how to hotspot to my router with wifi? Is there instruction somewhere how to do this?
someone in the apple forum report a fix for another router... is someone trying to do the same for dd-wrt?

I'm guessing Apple won't fix it, as 3rd party providers are already developing fixes for this. Synology has a hot fix for their latest update for the RT2600ac that restores USB tethering. Tested and tried. This is why I think that Apple won't fix this, and that this simply requires driver changes.
I'm saying that they already developed an updated driver that's fully working as we speak. They still haven't released an official firmware update for it, but they do have a hot patch with the updated ipheth.ko driver.
