Using Linksys router 3200 acm with dd-wrt open vpn and kill switch.

Router is set to auto reboot at 5am daily.
But some time it just hangs.
Have to restart router to get it to work.

Trying to determine if express vpn would be more stable than nord vpn or if the problem is elsewhere.

I know of someone that uses it, I believe they changed their guide for configuring that connection, so I'd visit their site and how to configure DDWRT.

This sounds like it's a configuration settings issue for it since my bud has zero issues with DDWRT and nordvpn.

That being said, with VPN providers and manually setting things up will get you downtime whenever they do maintenance on their DNS/TLS settings, or just retire servers. It's just the price of doing things this way.

Not sure what "hangs" means in this context of the VPN.

If you mean it just won't connect, then as previously stated, the server may be down and unavailable (maybe for maintenance, maybe because it's overloaded, etc.). That's why you never want to rely on just *one* server. Better to specify *multiple* servers by using additional remote directives in the Additional Config field. Here's my own w/ ExpressVPN.

Code:
server-poll-timeout 10
remote-random
remote us-new-york-2-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-atlanta-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-chicago-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-dallas-2-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-dallas-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-denver-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-losangeles-1-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-losangeles-3-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
#remote usa-losangeles-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-losangeles5-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-miami-2-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-miami-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-newjersey-1-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-newjersey-3-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-newyork-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-saltlakecity-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-sanfrancisco-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-seattle-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-tampa-1-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195
remote usa-washingtondc-ca-version-2.expressnetw.com 1195

The "server-poll-timeout" directive limits how long the OpenVPN client will wait for a successful connection to any given server before moving on to the next one. The remote directive commented out is the one I have specified in the Server IP/Name field of the GUI (think of it as the default).

test your vpn from your admin control panel with your server and connect with pc to determine if your service is working.if its ok then put config files into your router then do an ip check

ok will try the config file.

But in the past when I check with Nord VPN the server was working which led me to believe the problem is with the router or configuration of the router
